I understand that, most of our private schools are Christian schools. You’re actually getting towards your child’s tuition what would have been spent on them at a public school. Also that same money can be used for homeschool and we have homeschool chapters here also at churches where parents take turns on specific subjects.

My aunt is a teacher. She has had students where the parents didn't care for the kids at all. She even bought Christmas gifts and a birthday cake for some of the children over the years because the parents just didn't care or were worthless bums.

I’ll pay to avoid my younger twins being forced to spend the next decade with slack jawed Neanderthals.

Taxpayer dollars shouldn't be going to private schools.
That is ridiculous.
The Louisiana government has a constitutional obligation to educate every student (regardless of disability and/or impairment).
Private schools have no such requirement. As a matter of fact, they pride themselves on their exclusivity (they want to be more exclusive than public schools, otherwise people wouldn't want to send their children there).

In fl I get the money directed to me, then I transfer it to the catholic school my son goes to. No state direct payments, no state control over the school.

We had a choice, sent them to Catholic schools...
Still had to pay taxes either, or...
So y'all for school vouchers?

Y’all have it in Florida too? We are planning a move there and we were just wondering this last night.

And the wording of "school choice" is as good as the Democrats wording for Affordable Care Act and Inflation Reduction Act.
Everyone has a choice where to send their children to school.
The only institution restricting access are the private schools themselves.

You’re right. They do have student and family interviews prior to enrollment. Not everyone is selected. I agree

Yup. No income limits. Apply the money goes to an account for your kid, you authorize it tonthe school

If the money goes from the state to the parent...maybe a reimbursement when a receipt is provided, that's great.
If the money goes from the government to the school, I'm not participating in the program.
Also, regarding secular prep schools, the vouchers may be around $10,000 for maybe a $25,000 bill. One law previously proposed in TN didn't allow schools to make parents pay the difference. I don't think that law ever went into effect. But parents would still have to pay a big tuition payment for those schools.

That's perfect. I have no issue with that at all. I don't think the TN bill in the hopper does that, but I could be wrong.

Yeah it’s pretty new here. The way one school we talked to said it went straight from the award to the school for tuition purposes and we would pay the rest over an 11 month period. On the homeschool portion you are able to buy all supplies and needs for curriculum with the money deposited in parents account.

certain folk wouldn't subject their kids to interactions with other certain folk. Can't have that!
You're probably the same person bitching about kids being forced to deal with DEI shite in the public school system.
We send our kids to Catholic schools because I don't want to deal with the public school system and all the BS with government associated with it..
Those Catholic schools are more diverse than you think...

I don't like public schools because of the teachers unions, but I also wouldn't be a fan of sending my kid to a school that's taking guidance from this Pope and Vatican.
So if I had school aged kids it'd probably be home school.

Take out “private”. Government funded education has been a catastrophe.

You aren't a fan of Louisiana State University?

Go to stepupforstudents.org they have all the info on it. If you have questions let me know. There is also one if your kid goes to a public school out of your assigned district you can get 400 a semester for transportation costs paid directly to you
