I often try putting myself in people like your shoes. Meaning, what if the president were a Democrat that I despised, and we were in this same war with Iran? How would I feel?
I'd be pissed, if I truly felt we were "close to waving the white flag". And since it's out of my control but I felt I still needed to vent, I may even come here to do that. I'd express my frustrations and get it out my system as best I can. I may even argue with supporters of the president. That's what pissed off people do when things are fully out of their control.
But you... you're not pissed at all. In fact, your tone suggests that you're giddy. A pissed off person expresses their anger in no uncertain terms. A pissed off person is beyond the point where he feels he needs to goad and provoke others.
This proves beyond any doubt that your primary concern isn't with the war at all. The war is just the means toward the ends of seeing the president look bad. Tomorrow it'll be a different "outrage".
So which is it? Are you giddy? Or just an immature child?

Yeah I was pissed when it first started because I knew what a clusterfrick and stupid decision it was despite what all the sycophants were rationalizing.
Interest rates were coming down. AI boom was killing it. All he had to do was just not be a dumbass. Even the tariff bullshite was a blip. Just do nothing and the economy is rolling and the midterms are probably in the bag. But no, he let Venezuela go to is head and then Bibi played him like a puppet
And now he has fricked up pretty much the entire economy. Rates are skyrocketing, inflation still up, and for what?
The people in Iran he killed were the moderates. Hardliners have taken their place...no one over there wants to negotiate. The strait is a mess. They can defeat our trillion dollars military with 20k drones apparently.
Sure their currency is inflated or whatever, I don't really give a frick about that. I care about my life in america and you can rationalize how ever you want but for the average American, quality of life has gone down since this war started.
So yeah I do hope he has to tuck tail and admit defeat, he deserves to have to eat that embarrassment and I hope this will be his lasting legacy because he betrayed his voters and deserves to be ridiculed.
Actually I would also accept his legacy being a pedo protector as well. Because he deserves that label too.

This wasn't directed towards me, but:
I'm pissed off that we even got into the situation.
I give 0 fricks about our agenda in Iran. The goals do not benefit me or any other American at all.
It was impossible for us to win from the start. It was proven in Iraq and Afghanistan with boots on the ground and trillions in money wasted. Iran has as much population as those 2 countries combined. While Iraq is a lot of flatter ground and Afghanistan was more difficult due to some mountains - Iran is damn near all of that. Possibly the worst terrain on the entire planet to fight on. Our tanks can't even fire at angles high enough to hit things in the mountains. And yet we were going to accomplish even more without putting boots on the ground?
I hope there are no more lives lost and Trump comes to his senses and keeps his campaign promises. Removing ourselves from the entire area is the biggest win Americans can get right now.
We have a military capable of defending us from anything in the world. We do not have a military, nor do we need a military that is capable of conquering and sustaining that indefinitely. It's a misuse of resources to even attempt it.

Okay then let's discuss the hypothetical that Iran might have been building a nuclear weapon. In getting one they would be bulletproof. They would join the club. What do you consider the proper course of action if that was the case? What about a country stockpiling thousands of ballistic missiles, drones with proxies scattered about the Middle East?

Everyone has a God given right to self-defense, so I don't care about that at all. The real power in nukes isn't using them; it's in having them because it gives you defense and prevents larger nations from picking on you. EG: North Korea.
Outside that, any country can choose to use a nuke on us at any time. Thus, the overall answer is to have defense and spend efforts to defense on stopping them in whatever form they exist. Russia can decide to launch one tomorrow and then what?
We need a defense against ALL of the potential threats.
And then there is the entire reason Iran is aggressive towards in the first place. Which is because of what we do to them. And as long as we keep doing it, they are just going to be more and more aggressive. You would too.
If Russia came over and installed a puppet in the US who was a brutal dictator who killed and imprisoned political enemies while giving natural resources to other countries. You'd probably support storming the Russian embassy and holding them hostage etc.
If Mexico, a Russian ally (in this scenario) then launched attacks on us in response to those actions, and Mexico gave them chemical weapons to use on Americans - you'd probably start screaming Death to Russia in the streets.
And you'd probably support the government doing anything it can to get a nuclear weapon to defend these threats. And if Russia came over and decided to take out our leadership with bombs (even if it was a piece of shite like Biden) and attacked and took out our military, you wouldn't want to surrender to Russia, you'd be even more bolden against them.
If Russia then tells you they will keep doing this, bomb your civilian structure and do terrible things to you, will that make you want to elect a Russian puppet as president? Nah, you'll support the most extreme group you can find towards Russia and want to attack them anyway you can.
And yet for some odd reason many people here believe the people of Iran are acting irrational for this behavior. No, what's irrational is expecting any human to do the opposite and thinking winning a war against a military is going to change the hearts and minds, so they elect someone we want. It's not going to happen like that. It didn't work in Iraq, it didn't work in Afganistan.
If you want to take away the power of the extremist - stop being their Satan and leave them the frick alone. It won't be overnight, but over time they'll put their focus towards other shite.

Or could be a product of the lack of personnel in key positions in the Pentagon?
Pretty sad either way
We ran out of missiles.

Every major nuclear power has to right to thwart that threat if they deem you aggressive enough and can get in and do the job soon enough. And I guess we always have the power to nuke them if they get too bellicose.

We are much more aggressive than anyone else in the world.
We keep starting wars, including this one.
Your argument basically boils down to might is right.
