I was discussing this with a friend yesterday. I can be a pretty negative person, but I just can't wrap my brain around how people do everything they can to turn every situation into a horrible one. The idea of wanting to be miserable all the time is so fricking odd to me.

I think it's completely legitimate to say the new woke religion of the left is a Christianity knock off without the redemption aspect. Which is also a good way to approach it with left-leaning Christians. It's all sin and groveling but no forgiveness.

This is off topic, but I used to say Islam (and particularly radical Islam) would gain a foothold in Europe in part because of the absence of religion in western europe. Or more specifically, because actual religion was replaced by a religion of political correctness that would be no match for Islam.

Honestly, I'm having to reconsider the idea that a pseudo-religion can't match up with a real one. To be fair, I still think radical islam would snuff out American-style wokism quickly. But given the lukewarmness of American Christianity and the increasing (sometimes violent) devotion of the left to the woke movement, maybe I was wrong about what a political, religious-like movement could accomplish.

That's actually an aspect that I never really considered. I've never really thought about the fact that there is no forgiveness or any concrete way to redeem yourself.
