They didn't understand that their "product" was escapism.

Companies pay a whopping $5.6 million to run a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl. That might have something to with the reduction of sponsors.

I bet another reason is that these companies aren’t buying ads is that they aren’t able to get the perks that come with buying an ad like Super Bowl tickets, parties, etc. because of the reduced attendance.

it is strictly financial. Why pay an arm and a leg for an Ad that won't be seen? People were watching football to escape from the bullshite of daily life. Daily life started encroaching. That is why people are taking up hobbies again....trading cards and comic books are through the roof comparatively

It’s amazing how people don’t realize who their customer base is.

Granted it's not the same without fans. However, sports could really have uplifted people's spirits. I would argue that without the SJW influence, viewership would have been greater simply because there is nothing to watch. Those idiots did the opposite and ruined sports for you average Joe who wants a brief escape.

I have been a sports junkie my whole life. Not boycotting because I am protesting their stance. I tried to watch yesterday and the truth is I just don't give a shite and simply not interested.

BS! What do people use for entertainment when confined to their homes. They turn on the TV and mostly watch sports.
I can only watch LSU's championship for so long.
I would rather watch reruns of Gilligan's Island than professional sports.
I do it for my Grandchildren.
I'm not watching any program that advocates destroying our country.

More people will be watching than expected. Patrick Mahomes the new NFL poster boy vs. Tom Brady the Darth Vader of football.

Football fans hate Tom Brady and want to see him lose. If Bucs get a sizable lead people will stop watching. Buccaneers winning the NFC is good for the NFL.

Lol. So a literal captive audience isn’t watching the only sports on tv because....

They have options.

People are watching everything on demand, broadcast tv is dying. Sports will never be what it was (and I’m okay with that).

Yeah, those losers don't like someone who is successful.

I like both Brady and Mahomes. Great athletes in their sports.

But I'm not watching.

Let the young athletes, (SJW like Clark) learn an economics lesson the hard way, since they never learned in college.

So a bunch of people don't have TVs or internet in their homes and have to go elsewhere to watch it? People that care about the game will watch it, people that don't care go to parties to socialize and don't watch a minute anyways. Viewership declines have zero to do with COVID.

When our overlords allow us to gather in private again, take a look around the room during a Super Bowl party and count how many are yapping and not paying a single shred of attention to the TV.

remember a time when the next day after the superbowl, all everyone talked about was who had the best commercial. What a fall the NFL has taken.

The commercial theme this year will be racism, unity, heel, and diversity. Probably not in that exact order. Somewhere in the middle of that one or two funny commercials will emerge.

I’m sorry, I’m not watching the pre-game kneeling, a conservative hating halftime, or preaching commercials. The whole concept of the SuperBowl is distasteful. frick the Woke, I hope they go broke.

SEC conference is hated by a lot fans from outside the SEC. They hate it because it is the most successful conference.

Just a question for Auburn fans. Do you hate Alabama?

The people who think they're accomplishing a political goal are gonna be heartbroken when the broadcasting contracts are negotiated in a few years and the salary cap shoots over 300M dollars.
