NFL History Refresher

How soon we forget..
NFL "Refresher" NFL History...history not often reported or leaked to the ticket holders. I hope this helps you; it opened my eyes, to better understand when and why the public’s respect for the NFL organization started to crumble....
* In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling before each game to pray they also had an issue with Tebow wearing John 3:16 as part of his eye-black to avoid glare, and made him take it off.
* In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health disorders.
* In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said "Know Jesus Know Peace" but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.
* In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing "Find the Cure" eye black for breast cancer awareness.
* In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence. (Not that the NFL has a domestic violence problem...).
*In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.
* 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11
So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression. It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any issue: For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic violence, for cops killed arbitrarily for being cops, or for the Memory of 9/11...
BUT they will allow demonstrations of DISRESPECT for our National Flag, our National Anthem, for America, and for the American People, if it will help mollify a particular Group and its supporters. That is who and what the NFL now has shown itself to be.
Pass this post along to all your friends and family, if you believe it worthy of sharing.
Honor our military; too many of who have come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

Well written. The NFL will continue to decline. They are losing the older traditional fans, and milennials have no interest in football.

There are so many bigger issues at hand than a group of athletes kneeling on a sideline.
1. they're not out to disrespect the country/flag/military. They're using a platform to protest police brutality (whether that's warranted or not is irrelevant. Many unwarranted protests happen every day. Jesus protesters scream at me I'm going to hell for having a beer on Bourbon street)
2. The NFL is a private organization. They can do whatever they want, as long as it is legal. The players sign up for this in their contracts.
3. Colin Kapernick is not a good QB. Otherwise he'd still have a job. Nobody is sacrificing wins for some bullshite cause.

Right - if they wanted to play politically neutral, all these demonstrations would be treated the same. We could shrug and say, "Well, we don't like it, but they're keeping all this stuff out of their business. These cats can contribute or make PSAs outside the games."
But, they took a side with Kap and the BLM. When they did that, I was effectively done with them, particularly when we had the Dallas cops thing in such sharp contrast. And, I hate it - losing the NFL was like losing a member of my family.

---Trump wanted to buy the Bills and was turned down due to lack of funds on this day in NFL History

Don't go down that path. Any and every private company responsible for that much GDP/tax revenue is "protected" by the government in some way or another. Check the bail out of the banks in 2008 for example....
Don't get me wrong, I don't care for the NFL or their leadership, and their hypocrisy. Check the Sean Payton/Saints suspensions for instance (blatant hypocrisy). I just can't stand that so much energy is focused, by both sides, on this stupid issue. There are bigger fish to fry.

You were listening to Walton & Johnson this morning I'm guessing. They mentioned this almost word for word.

Am I supposed to be shocked that the NFL has very strict uniform policies?
Posted on 9/13/18 at 8:30 am to Mulat
Where did this narrative on Tebow come from, except your head? Tebow knelt all the time, both before the games and during them - that's how we got the term "Tebowing".
And the NFL has stupid uniform rules, and often does not grant exceptions when common sense said they should. That's a different issue than whether players should be fined for protesting racial injustice.

yea, the causes in those statements are unfortunately irrelevant. Its a uniform policy. However they need to make sure its done to everyone and everything consistently.
I get the whole protest thing, but they chose the absolute worse time/moment to do it. They are 100% disrespecting those that believe in the moment. whether you care to admit it or not.
there should be a no protest policy. Let them do it elsewhere. Another time another place. and actually do something to help and not divide us.

I hate the NFL, pure and simple
It just floors me that an American Male would spend $1 on anything NFL.
It's so simple, just dont engage with the NFL products for a few weeks. Your team will still play, and win of they are good enough. But you HAVE to stop the money flow to the head office. It's the only way to put your rights in front of a product.
The NFL is governing your rights and telling you what you believe in is wtong.
Be a man

the kneeling has nothing to do with the military. once again trump says something and all you trumpkins fall in line and believe him.

Yes, you have hit the nail on the head. The people and the institutions of the USA are scared shitless to challenge the Leftist Marxist paradigm and will cave meekly whenever confronted by that paradigm.
That's why the USA has a finite lifespan that will expire in about 150 to 200 years, IMHO.
Any entity that refuses to defend itself will be eventually destroyed by another entity. This is axiomatic.

Pipe down dummy. Keep gates the country and said he refuses to stand for a symbol of a country that allows bad things to happen to black people. Those are Kaeps words, not trump.

do it on your own.time.
End the propaganda.
No anthem.
No 100 foot flags.
Just football.

I associate quite a bit with lots of combat veterans at various meetings and social gatherings and let me assure you that I am quite alone in my DGAF attitude WRT the kneeling. The combat vets of the recent and current wars that I know are almost unanimously pissed ROYALLY at the NFL and at the players for this kneeling.
Like I said, I DGAF about it, nor do I care if some nut burns a US flag, but, again let me assure you that I am virtually ALONE with this attitude when I am in a gathering of combat veterans.
PS We watched the last Superbowl together at the canteen and I was a bit annoyed when they stood up during the national anthem and saluted the US flag on the TV screen! But I did it just like they did. I thought it was unnecessary to do that, but, Yes, there are some vets who DO stand up and salute the flag on the TV screen.

Kaepernick was an NFL starter. Who replaced Alex Smith. How is the Alex Smith protest going?

The guy who started it said he was protesting the flag.

It's pretty damn relevant if your protest is based upon a false narrative.
