I watched the ad twice and can't find all the gay hate everyone is in a tizzy about. Outside of a short video of Trump saying he'd take care of all the LGBTQ people, I saw no reference to gays/lesbians. What in that ad freaked everybody out?

DeSantis needs to stay in the race because we have no idea what these people will do to Trump. They will stop at nothing to destroy him. No boundaries or laws.

Every person I know in real life (not just know them on the internet) does not care if it is trump or desantis. They will support either one to get Biden out.

That's what I'm driving at.
I don't think the DeSantis ad was an unforced error. I think it was an instance where Trump effectively turned negative light on him around by making it something it really wasn't, and obviously the Left jumped in to help. And while that legit calls into question the effectiveness of those running RDS's campaign, it should also cause Trump supporters to pause and really consider if they want to be all in on Trump's leftward lurch.

Team Desantis is convinced that Trumps popularity is based on the left attacking him. They are trying to manufacture attacks on Desantis or that perception.

The DeSantis campaign has likely consulted with psychologists on how to effectively campaign against such fanatic fervor in the Trump camp.
The only way for these people to come around is through self-realization. If you attack their idol it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s a long march towards decoupling the MAGA crowd from their fictional reality.

DeSantis supporters believe Trump's popularity is based on his long run with widespread appeal going back to 2016, a very nice run as president from 2017-19, and many on the Right not understanding what happened in 2020 or it's long-term importance. That said, the ridiculous indictments of Trump have absolutely changed the Trump v. DeSantis contest, as evidenced by the polls over the last six months. There are a few hundred threads on this board that lay that out, all supported by Trump superfans themselves.
