The problem with Gavin is that he’s pampered. There is no serious challenge to his authority out here. He isn’t an idiot but he isn’t accustomed to having to actually fight and Ron would bring plenty of fight with him. I could see Gavin getting flustered pretty easily. He’d need a moderator that is in his back pocket.

I could sorta see Gavin not having a whole ton of luck with those rather important Rust Belt states and their blue collar denizens whose temperament and proclivities don’t quite mesh that of a bratty, uppity, prissy left coaster such as this dude.

I hate to say this. It is cynical. Ron is a good governor. But this is to get both of these men on a national stage. It isn't happening in any organic way.
