Same. Some of that is a bit of Uptown snobbery. I dont know much about Willow but Franklin is solid. My youngest is a grad and blew through undergrad, he was well prepared.

I mean while not being a lawyer I can't imagine wanting to fight it out on technicalities against a disabled kid.
Disabled people, generally, shouldn't be pitied and those that do aren't the ones you build society around. I'm sorry but if you have the cognitive ability of a 2 year old you don't belong in a school specifically designed for gifted students. You probably, also, don't belong in a class with low functioning students. You should have your own classes and instruction.
For the record, When I was in second grade I would be pulled out of the class once a month for "testing" because I have Muscular Dystrophy and they wanted to put me into special ed (If you watched the Jerry Lewis Telethon in the 90s during the local, new orleans,l stuff you almost certainly saw me in videos). The school gave me an IEP, which was completely unneeded. My mom had to go to the school board to fight against them putting me into special ed classes. A year later I tested into the gifted program.
I say that just to point out that having a disability doesn't mean you should be precluded from normal activities but some, like in this instance, are so severe there is no point in disadvantaging others for someone who will never be able to benefit from taking their place.

Guarantee some slip and fall attorney was trying to find a disabled kid to set this whole thing up for himself.

That's not even the issue. The school would have to hire someone able to teach this kid. If this kid has a disability, why do the parents want to force this child into a school they will fail out of anyway?

I guess little Oscar should get to start at quarterback on the football too. You know you can’t have a selection process that would weed out the handicapable in any way.

I don't think this was ever about the education available.

Agreed, this is a very severe case.
It's also not a physical disability in a way where he could succeed in school as long as he had the handicap accessible locations and tools to succeed.
Which is why I believe this was only about getting a settlement.
The school would have done him no good.
But with the right jury pool we are talking serious money.

had jury duty in the fall and the guy I happened to sit next to in the place potential jurors have to wait was a radiation oncology medical physicist. I don't remember any trashy people being in the room either. Just because someone gets a summons doesn' t mean they will show up.
So your anecdotal one time experience with jury duty means Orleans isn’t a great plaintiff venue?
