Can the New Orleans council prevent Entergy from shutting off the power to those who do not pay their electric bills? Why doesn’t the council do something in their power and figure out a way to operate a government more efficiently and reducing the tax burden on individuals. That would be beneficial.

quote:

“With this moratorium on shutoffs, hopefully, the corporation as a whole will determine the best approach to drive down bills and help customers because costs at this level are simply unaffordable,” said Council President Moreno.

The best thing Entergy could do is turn off the power to their July 22nd meeting and remind these fools who runs bartertown.

Told this board 2 months ago this is when shite would really hit the fan… $5 gas, just drive less. 4-500 energy bill, just don’t pay or charge on credit card and default.

The CC companies are gonna be in a world of hurt in a few months when defaults run rampant.

City of and Entergy brass have been in bed together for a long time. Now they are going to be tough? Lol

Let me know when the city decides to do anything that resembles action.

They just auto debited my monthly payment from my account twice, we never game them permission and paid the bill, so right now they're sitting on $750 for my $250 bill and they won't give it back. Had to go through the bank to get it back.

city council blaming shutdown and unreliability of Grand Gulf nuke plant... shut down was a scheduled refueling and last year they produced record electricity.

All the council does is grandstand by passing bullshite resolution. They haven’t done shite to hold Entergy accountable for their record profits as they pass all risk onto customers.

It is a for-profit public utility.

I wonder how New Orleans will like brown-outs and black-outs when the utility cuts too many corners to maintain the system.

Entergy should walk away from NO and turn the lights off on the way out.

And I despise Entergy

This may have something to do with why my bill has gone from around $350/month to $580/month.

This is over and above the increase of $25/1000 kWH Entergy customers were warned about in an email sent in late May.

We’re enrolled in autopay.

Entergy never has to wait for their money from us.

Maybe I’m a putz for paying.
Hmmmm . . .

What can the council do when Entergy is regulated by the Public Service Commission?
