Why all the down votes here.
My position is sure the legislature has the right to eliminate the position, but it should be announced at the beginning of a term and carried out at the end of said term.
NOT after a campaign was invested in and run to a vote.
Give the man the term he was elected for and eliminate that clerks office when his term is over.

Sounds like the city will save some money consolidating offices. Nice job.

“The Legislature has the power to restructure the office” does not answer that question.
No, but "the legislature has the power to ABOLISH the office" does.

Orleans Parish is challenging this egregious abuse of power, total disregard for local democratic governance, and state overreach.
and perhaps you and ivory bill can explain how that is any basis for jurisdiction by SCOTUS??????

Must be some serious blackmail coming from someone that requires this much effort

contained a provision allowing for the separate offices in Orleans Parish to be altered by state legislation.
Seems by allowing it then it has a right of not allowing too

Why do you see it as nullification rather a waste of money, of which New Orleans does for pleasure

Explanation
I am mad. I have been getting my way for over 200 years and now someone made a law that I don’t like. You can’t expect me to follow it because , I don’t like it. So please, pretty please get rid of it so I can do whatever I want regardless of whether it makes financial sense.
