re: New Indictments - Manafort & Gates (32 counts) IRS stuff

This raft of new charges and new plea presumably is the reason for the judge to hand down the order telling Mueller to play nicely.
Is it also the reason for discovery being granted last week?
And as for Gates, does this mean he fired the attorneys who wanted him to stick it out? If so, is that because someone else was paying for them and they were in a bind?

That is a weird statement.

Gotta wonder what conversations these two have had.

And this tidbit is a clue to how Trump views what Manafort has on him.
So lazy. Not you...the NBC report. Every article you post is based upon the assumption trump is guilty of something involving Russia and everything is leading to some grand "flip"!which will end him. D.C. Leaks like a sieve. We have not heard one whisper of any actual evidence of trump being involved with Russia. All we have are financial crimes from pre trump years and process crimes.
It's such a crazy thing to watch. And for otherwise educated people to fall for. It really does show how much confirmation bias can cloud sound judgment.

Almost as much as Manafort owes to Oleg Deripaska.

But not nearly as much as you owe, of course

Here's the corrected story:
This one was not a good one.

NBC Politics reporting now that agreement to cooperate is indeed part of his plea.

In the plea agreement, Rick Gates has agreed to cooperate with the government which includes to furnish any documents and testify at any future proceedings, per courthouse

His lawyers quit because he lied to the FBI. Whether that means they wanted him not to plead guilty or that they couldn't work with him once it was clear he'd lied, I'm not sure. The motion to withdraw was filed the day he's accused of lying, which I'm assuming means the latter.

Oh interesting. The speculation was that they disagreed with him about his plea.
Obviously not an attorney question - is it weird that his defense attorneys would break up with him for this but the Feds would still be willing to plead him down after being lied to?

Of course it is. That language is in every plea agreement ever that has co-defendants or an ongoing investigation. I mean every plea agreement. Go to the most rural parish Court you can find. Look at the ole agreement of anyone who had a co-defendant....you will see that language. It means absolutely nothing.

What happens if the defendant breaks the agreement?

In other words, shite they charge you with when they can’t find anything else.

So how can it mean nothing if the defendant loses his sentencing recommendation or whatever he bargained for?
