Bruh, there is definitely an "I" after the names of the Independent party candidates. You might want to recheck your registration.
Bruuuuuhhhh...no wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket. There is no way you tied your shoes by yourself this morning.

Independent doesn’t mean moderate, you can be a commie or a right wing loon and still be independent.

Who did these “independents” pull the lever for in 2024?
Chase Oliver recieved the highest % of non blue or red votes im sure.
Nvm Jill Stein beat the Libertarian party as the Green Party candidate. 862k votes for her and 650k for Oliver

You said you were registered independent.
This is what registration looks like for someone not registered to a party.
ETA: I slipped my shoes on this morning, thank you very much.

In other words, a pox on both their houses.
I am non-party, but you can bet you arse I won't be voting for a Dem.
Ever.

Whoever they wanted to pull it for.
Not always. I remember a few times where people would select a Republican and it would not accept it. It would show the dim instead.

Still....bruuuuhhhh
Ima post the definition for you. See if that helps
quote:
an independent is an individual not affiliated with a political party. The following terms may be used synonymously with independent: non-party, unenrolled, and unaffiliated.
Any candidate not affiliated with a party has that damn "I" next to his/her name.
Read all about it at Ballotpedia

I got notice a month ago Louisiana no longer allows you to register as Independent, so there's that.

Some will be repelled by Trump's style, but I suspect that most don't like the socialists, communists and various branches of Marxism that are now the dem party.

And??????
I understand not having any confidence in the Republican party....
But anyone claiming to be Independent obviously doesn't agree with the Marxist Dems ideology..... so where does that leave them?
The only logical recourse is Republicans.

The Independent party sucks so it's not a surprise so many people are stupid enough to align with them. If you're going to reject the Ds and Rs at least put thought into what party you are moving to or go no party, which is what they probably think they are doing.
And when you say “at least put thought into what party you are moving to,” it sounds like you assume politics has to revolve around party identity. I don’t share that premise.
