New Hampshire Senate race heats up with national implications

Political watchers have turned their eyes to New Hampshire, where it seems the campaign of a relatively unknown Republican is presenting far more of a challenge than the incumbent Democrat was expecting, with control of the U.S. Senate on the line.
“Over the next eight weeks of the general election, (Senate Leadership Fund) and the (National Republican Senatorial Committee) are slated to spend a staggering $30 million dollars against Senator Hassan,” Aaron Jacobs, New Hampshire Sen. Maggie Hassan’s campaign manager, said in a memo to donors last week. “While many predicted national Republican groups would cancel their ad reservations once Bolduc won, they have done the opposite.”
Retired Army Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc has come out of nowhere to prove to be a suddenly stinging thorn in the paw of first term senator and former New Hampshire governor Hassan. Polling shows Bolduc gaining ground this month and, according to his campaign, he managed to raise more than $1 million during September.
...
“We were pulling in about $30,000 a month,” he said. “I’m talking barely enough to keep the lights on.”
The difference in the time between has been Bolduc and his ability to connect with voters, Wiley said.
“His message is simple: people are hurting and the career politicians who put us in this spot — Joe Biden and Maggie Hassan — well one is now standing in front of you now and wants your vote,” he said.
Hassan has been focusing on pointing to Bolduc’s ability to give Republican’s a majority in the Senate, enough to pass a nationwide abortion ban bill, she has claimed. She says Bolduc would be a yes vote on such a bill.
“While Sen. Hassan has a strong record of working across party lines to deliver for New Hampshire, Don Bolduc supports ending Social Security and Medicare and would be a yes vote to ban abortion nationwide. There is a clear contrast in this race,” Maggie for NH spokesperson Sydney Petersen told the Herald.

McConnell has finally found a GOP senate candidate he can support.

Guess he figures since Bolduc is a retired general he will be a loyal establishment deep stater.

Trafalgar had him down like 4 points. Hassan is well known in NH but let’s see if he can close the gap. Funny how a state that is “live free or die” is as liberal as NH can be at times.

Its all the blue state transplants that turned NH blue.

This year's MAGA Republican slate of nominees for house, senate and governorships probably would make it happen, and that's why voters are skittish at the prospect of, for lack of a better word, extremist right-wing candidates like Bolduc, Masters, O'Dea and Mastriano potentially get elected.
Prior elections' catchphrases are this elections' punji sticks.
