25 years ago, I was a Marine Combat Instructor at the School of Infantry. We just happened to be in between classes. My fellow instructors and I were in the company office where a TV stayed on with a news feed. My best friend Lonny was there with me. “Breaking News”…the first plane hit. All of us are watching. The second plane hits…we knew 100% that it was an attack…then everything else. We all immediately starting making plans to get back to the fleet. Some of us ended up back at 1/8…1st Battalion 8th Marines. I had already spent four years previously with 1/8. We knew what was coming…months later, it was on. A couple years later, I found myself medically retired, career over, my best friend was dead, along with many others. So began 20 years of war. RIP Lonny. Semper Fi

It seems many have forgotten.
An entire generation wasn't even alive when it happened.
I spent last night watching personal stories of the survivors and families of those who perished describe that day. The horror of watching people jump to their deaths or leave messages to their families before the collapse.
And yet, here we are with a terrorist sympathizer as the mayor of our largest city. A president who allowed known terrorists to walk right into our country for four years. College kids wearing kiffyehs and chanting that Bin Laden had a point. Democrats trying to figure out new ways to pander to the Muslim populations.
My daughter is a senior in high school. She says they don't even really talk about 9/11. At all. There are no plans to honor the victims today, on the 25th anniversary.
