Virtue signaling at its purest

quote:

Though Netflix threatens to boycott the state of Georgia for passing a fetal heartbeat law to protect unborn children from abortion, the company still films in countries like Jordan and Egypt, where abortion is illegal.

Earlier this week, Netflix helped start a chain reaction of major studios threatening to boycott Georgia if lawmakers did not overturn the fetal heartbeat law.

"We have many women working on productions in Georgia, whose rights, along with millions of others, will be severely restricted by this law," Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos told Variety. "It’s why we will work with the ACLU and others to fight it in court. Given the legislation has not yet been implemented, we’ll continue to film there, while also supporting partners and artists who choose not to. Should it ever come into effect, we’d rethink our entire investment in Georgia."

Netflix was later joined by Disney, NBCUniversal, CBS, Showtime, and WarnerMedia with similar calls to boycott Georgia throughout the week. But, as noted by LifeNews, Netflix is clearly willing to work in heavily abortion-restrictive countries.

Many many countries who don’t have outright bans on abortion have bans after a certain amount of weeks. America is pretty liberal in this regard and it doesn’t stop these liberals from doing business in those countries.

Even principled libertarians like Justin Amash vote Dem.

Netflix has much less ability to influence Middle Eastern Country government policy than Georgia's.

This isn't complicated stuff.

It's racism, plain and simple. Any way you look at it.

Either:

A.) anti-white racism (treating whites differently than other races)

B.) the "soft bigotry of low expectations" (believing that non-whites are incapable of being held to the same standards as whites.)

That's a tacit admission that Netflix's bloviating has nothing to do with principle. And I appreciate you saying that. I routinely accuse Leftists of having no principles and you just bolstered my argument.

It's about enacting change, that's the whole point of a boycott. You can't be THAT dense.

So is Netflix now our moral guide? Is the leftist utopia going to be led by large corporations?

That doesn't absolve them from being hypocritical, virtue-signaling dooshbags.....

Not complicated stuff...

No? But they also get to do business in whatever places they want, even if the reason is politically motivated. This is still the U.S., right?

That's what blind loyalty gets you every time. They don't care one bit about it. Just something to get their weak followers to whine about. When they start making less because they have to pay more elsewhere, they'll change their tune.

Can we not criticize their hypocrisy? Nobody is saying shut them down or anything.

The only thing complicated is these fools thinking they are noble standing up against this. So brave...

I 100% agree.

And, of course, when they claim they are avoiding a given state for a particular reason, it is well within everyone with a brain's rights to point out that they're lying.

It's not hypocritical, you just dislike their boycott because you wouldn't do it yourself.

Why is it hypocritical to attempt to enact change where possible, and not shoot yourself in the foot where impossible?
