Nah bud everybody is on furlough including “essential “ staff. You have the NTSB not even sending their investigators to that wreck in Florida that killed those poor children. FBI, Marshall Service the whole dam DOJ.

I’m an essential federal employee, and I will be working for no pay until it ends. I’m also a conservative who voted for Trump, in part based on his promise of border security. I can stomach a few missed checks, but at some point this shite is going to start hurting. I want the wall, but I also like my house. I’m just not sure what to root for here.

I would start looking for another job

You don’t read threads so well, do you? How you’re employed is beyond me. I’m one of those “controllers” referenced in your quote above.

Several credit unions (Navy Federal for one) are offering interest-free loans to federal employees during the shutdown.

I saw that. Sky One is offering $5000 interest free if you pay it off 90 days after getting your first check. Luckily I won’t have to do that for a while, but it’s nice to know it’s there.

As a libertarian, I always root for shutdowns

In your case, you have to decide: What is more important: A border wall, or sticking it to Trump?

That is truly the argument. Trump wants a border wall, Dems just want to make Trump look bad.

Dems are robbing you of your livelihood to make a guy look bad. . .think on that a second.

That's not surprising (didn't know that when I gave my answer) , and I'm glad you aren't pushed that far

Next thing I'd advise is to make sure your co-workers know

It’s not that hard people. If you work for the government and are getting tight on cash from the shut down, go find your resident lib and live there. They can’t say no. They will supply you free food and medical and your children will have a good education too. No worries it is their duty they will understand. The good news is they will be unarmed too.
