Im at a loss. The ncaa finally acts like an organization that cares about the athletes it’s supposed to oversee and still manages to set a negative precedent.

Liberalism 101, even when you do the right thing it's for the wrong reasons.

There is something funny here.

Do you really believe this happened? Never known a teenage girl to exacerbate a situation?

I think youd have to be pretty naive to believe every word this girl is saying

No it does not mean that all athletes can have a gofundme.

It means that a chick with a-hole parents can receive some help. Some people should never ever be allowed to have children.

I highly doubt she is receiving much if any aid to run cross country.

If the school agrees to monitor the use of this account to support a student, I dont care.

If the girls parents were hit by a train and died. Would a gofundme be appropriate then?

Why can't other athletes have a gofundme? I'm sure there are other athletes with "a-hole parents". You do it for one, you have to do it for others. Where will the NCAA draw the line? They just opened a huge can of worms.

Do you think football players are provided money for these things?

Yes, there's a stipend. About 4-5k at most sec schools

"Living expenses" is quite an anomalous and subjective phrase, no?

It's like you purposefully left out the words "and educational expenses" for some reason. Unsure as to why, probably just an anomaly

Maybe, but she shouldnt be still competing in NCAA competition if she takes money. Believe it or not, you can take out loans and (some)get Pell Grants for college. Its a privilege to compete as a collegiate athlete, not a right.

Probably but this is a matter of a child making a decision and even if this story is absolutely legit in every sense, it opens the door to too many opportunities of fraud and abuse...

AND

key word there, guy

I focused on "living" for a reason.

Really? If a football player at Alabama needs a car, the university will give him $25,000 for one?

The story says this gofundme has raised $65,000 so far.

Do you really want to discuss it?

If so we can.

We are all talking about Division 1 athletes, the only athletic programs we give a shite about as a country are football and basketball. These players that we think would be getting 'funneled' money from a gofundme are all on full rides with stipends....these athletes would not be eligible because they already have a state sponsored way to funnel them all the money they need to live and thrive.

After that does any one really give a shite? Aside from it being a lesbian girl that somehow still pisses Southerners off.

Everyone wants to get worked up over nothing. The NCAA has monitored fundraisers for students in need in the past, they have rules for it. They have declared that this student is eligible to receive these funds from her fundraiser.

Are you just hateful of gofundme? What if her church did a bar b que? Would that piss you off too?

Indeed, im sure her “a-hole parents” housed her, clothes her, fed her well. Stayed together, made sure she went to a good school, took her to Disney world, the beach, etc. Attended her meets that took up whole weekends.

You know who doesn’t get a novelty gay girlfriend and start go fund mes because they are being oppressed...kids who actually grew up poor with absent or shitbag parents

So a year and a half of tuition and board?

I noticed you ignored the part where football players are actually given $4-5000.
