Really? Let's see.

Ag Zwin, if you don't shut up, I'm going to shut you up permanently....

I know where you live....

LOL.

Like my joke?

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I highly doubt you are serious. In the off event you are, come on in. I think I will be fine.

Jesus. We take every chance we get to point out the idiocy of the left on stuff like this, then this guy comes along and everybody wants someone to hold their beer.

I'll continue to get downvoted, but I think it makes us look like idiots to be outraged by this and but then say Dems are off the rails when they rend their garments over stuff Trump says.

What do you think the reaction would be if the local gun club put out a press release that said "If the sheriff serves another warrant, we're going to kill him."

Think there would be more than hyperbolic indignation? The thing you aren't realizing is that in the candidate's scenario, killing people is exactly what he'll have to do. There is nothing funny about it, and anyone who utters such a thing is not fit to be the garbage man, much less someone who is entrusted with enforcing the law.

He didn't say "we are going to kill gun owners." Did you watch the video? I am a staunch supporter of the 2d amendment, but I'm with Agwin here. This is silly to get fired up about.

I'm more concerned about his comment about needing a permit to inherit a gun.

Obviously, I'm not serious, and I don't think this frickstick was either. But killing people just isn't something you make light of, especially when your job might entail...

wait for it....

“You’ve heard people say you have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands.” He then shrugged his shoulders, shook his head back and forth, and then continued: “Okay…”

Maybe we watched different videos?

Not shocked he was applauded at the Hippie Branch of the Asheville Public Library system. Asheville is a liberal utopian shithole. Conservatives are not tolerated there.

The funniest part about that place is that the only black folks there are the ones that play for App State

Did you watch the video?

He says (paraphrasing):

"Don't buy in to the scare tactics. You've all heard people say, 'you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands.' . . . Okay. When you pass away we'll come get it."

Now, if you want something to get riled up about just for the sake of getting riled up, you could convince yourself that he's advocating to kill gun owners to take their guns.

Or, you can disagree with his views while keeping your pitchfork away for a bit.

Did you stop listening at that point? His very next line was, "I guess we'll come get them after you pass away."

FIFY

I'm not from NC, so I don't really care here, but this kind of stuff is unacceptable to me. It's no a lot different than letting a snot nosed kid on national tv to declare the NRA are killers. This kind of shite, and the acceptance of it, is what going to set off trouble that we have no solution for.

Eh, it's just not worth getting worked up over to me.

As I said, I'm more concerned that he thinks you need a permit to inherit a gun from a family member.

Fair enough, but I will ask again: What is your reaction to the joke Trump made about "2nd Amendment types" taking out Hillary?

I'm not saying you don't let the guy know you disagree with him. What I AM saying is that an article headline that says "NC Sheriff Candidate: Kill Gun Owners Who Won’t Give Up Their Guns" or a thread title that says "NC Sheriff candidate proposes killing gun owners" is a blatantly manipulative misrepresentation of what the guy said and is no better than the fake crap we see from the left.

Like UpToPar says, argue what he was clearly advocating (re: inherited guns) instead of taking the bait on something that just makes you look foolish and takes the attention away his real point.

I just think the dude is a fricking idiot, and should be called out on it. What's worth getting worked up over is the leftists steady progression, with the invaluable help of the democrat propaganda arm, the media, toward vilifying every group of people who disagrees with their agenda. You can call the NRA murderers, no problem. You can equate the Taliban and ISIS with Christians, sure bring it on. You can sell gun owners as extremists, prone to violence and murder, and make snide remarks about killing them to take their legal weapons.

The end result is going to be the very violence that they outwardly say they don't want. I think they secretly do want that violence, because it will make them the ultimate victim of anyone that opposes their agenda.

Are you talking about this?

Repeating his contention that Mrs. Clinton wanted to abolish the right to bear arms, Mr. Trump warned at a rally here that it would be “a horrible day” if Mrs. Clinton were elected and got to appoint a tiebreaking Supreme Court justice.

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” Mr. Trump said, as the crowd began to boo. He quickly added: “Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.”

I'm trying hard to see any indication of killing anyone here. Is there some other statement you're talking about?

I agree that provocation is their actual goal, and it's a cancer.

But, that is also kind of my point here. I don't want to give them the ammo (forgive the pun) on something like this. I still believe that the votes that matter are the ones in the middle that can be reached with better arguments and policies. An escalating battle of inanities is too much like the old George Carlin joke: "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Didn't he say something along the lines of "whenever they pass away, we'll come get it, I'm just saying, I dunno". I get it, even hinting at it is disturbing, but the next sentence is kind of important.

Not sure. Start with a study of Trump's "jokes" and get back to me.

Actually, you make the point better than I was intending. In both cases, the dry text of what they said was pretty tame.

The key was in the videos, where you could tell by the body language, facial expressions, and (especially) crowd reactions that the speaker was implying something more sinister, but clearly as a joke.
