If I were him, I’d sue Lily for damages. Here is my reasoning. They are dropping him not because of something he said or did, but simply because of his association with his father. In essence, by dropping him they’ve publicly damaged HIS reputation and labeled him a racist. Anyone here with half a brain knows what happens when you get publically saddled with that stigma. You’re abilty to earn an income is severely damaged. The door is now open for other sponsors to drop him, and when that happens he will be without a ride and out of NASCAR. Essentially, his career will be over for something that was said before he was born.

What a pathetic comment. Raising awareness and letting conservatives know whats going on is not sky screaming.

Thank you for making my whole point though. Left to people like you, we should all sit down, shut up and just take it.

You want Lily to forced by the government to sponsor someone who they don't deem appropriate (for whatever reason, financial or otherwise)?

Are you a communist?

No. I am right. Knowing right from wrong is not based on a business model.

You should shut up and not do business with Lily.

Anything else is sky screaming.

Because I refuse to do business with a certain group, the media would take it upon themselves to support a campaign to discredit and ultimately destroy my company. By these actions they ARE infringing on my right to freely do business. They are attempting to force me to run my business as they think I should.

They are supposedly in the business of reporting the news, not picking and choosing causes or supporting agendas.

Isn't it their right to do business in the way they deem appropriate?

You have the right to do freely do business. Nothing the media can do can stop you. You do not have the RIGHT to run a SUCCESSFUL business.

Your point is FOS. They are hiding behind the Constitution masquerading as a Free and Impartial Press, yet they would be applying pressure to myself and my company to force me to do business with who they think I should and run it as they think I should.

If I do not they would do all they can to discredit me personally and hurt my business. I believe this is called extortion , and you know it.

Or they have information that you're not privy to and this was the correct decision to turn a better profit?

What, you think they held a focus group so they could ask them if they should pull their NASCAR sponsorship because the driver's dad dropped an N-bomb over 30 years ago?

Dollars to donuts that didn't happen, and it wasn't about saving money because they still sponsor two other drivers. No, they were cowering to the court of public opinion that fankly wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Still totally within their right to do it, it's just a tad bit ridiculous the level to which this kind of stuff has reached. I don't see why that's so hard for some to admit unless you're just being contrarian.

So what should people do about a chickennshit sponsor, other than decline to purchase its product?

The press is a business, just like the rest of them.

They need to turn a profit. Telling them how they should do business in un-american.

Did I say that? Go back and read what I said again until you get it through your head. They dropped him for the actions of another person that occurred 30 years ago. He’s essentially branded a racist now. Do you think Coke or any other sponsor is going to line up to sponsor him now?? Race teams depend on sponsors, so if you’re a driver who can’t get a sponsorship now because Lily recklessly damaged your rep, YOU ARE OUT OF A frickING JOB!!

So what's your solution? To not allow private companies to pull sponsorship? Yes this a pretty asinine reason to pull it but it's still their own descion. And I betbet you're fine with Gunn losing his job though

Read it again and please quote me. I said he should sue for damages. The entire post is about the damage to his reputation and ability to earn an income. Please quote me where I said the govt should force Lily to sponsor him.
