I'm gay and a lifetime registered independent. I generally sided with the dem party most of my 20's. I voted for Trump last time and support him even more wholeheartedly now. I even convinced my once hardcore democrat mother to vote for him last election.
Fast forward to now, she is changing her party affiliation and if not for covid, would probably be working locally for his campaign.
My partner re-registered as republican a year ago. He voted for Hillary last time but has seen the light for awhile now.
Found out this past weekend that an older gay couple in our neighborhood, both registered dems, are both voting Trump after not voting for him last time.
My two closest black friends are also voting for Trump. One did last time, the other did not.
Gives me hope that this country is not lost, not yet.

Sounds like this friend is a real liberal. There is no room for real liberals in the democrat party right now.
The 2 main characteristics of a real liberal is that you will always fight for and defend civil liberties and you are anti war.
What if a person is pro choice but not pro abortion? No place for them either.

Yes a lot of blues are turning red and a lot of reds are turning blue.
Probably because both options are pretty close to being equally terrible.

I hope more and more Gay people wake up.
I'm a hardcore Conservative and I don't give a DAMN what people do behind closed doors, but according to today's Left, that's not enough.
Every gay friend I had growing up just wanted to be left alone to quietly live their lives.
Nowadays, it seems that militants have taken over the Gay Community.

It's never too late to correct your mistakes....

I laugh at how many people downvote messages like this. Those downvoting are his base for the most part. He isn't going to lose his base by toning down a bit, but they can't see that.
Well we can ride that theme all the way to defeat in November. I'm more interested in keeping our leadership intact so we don't usher in a landslide win for the left that reshapes this country in the worst way for the next generation.
Some common sense, pragmatic messaging can avert this. We ridicule the leftist echo chamber while building our own. We laughed at the Obama bots and their cult of personality and now we have a Trumpian cult.
I hope I'm wrong, but you can't alienate everyone but your true believers and expect to come out on top. His policies are on target. His messaging needs to be on target as well. Let the prog kooks make fools of themselves and be the adult in the room. That's all I ask.
