And now you know the rest of the story

NY Post Op-Ed

quote:

Joe Biden has been running an ad in which he says he can’t imagine what it would be like to have a child with cancer and no health coverage. I don’t have to imagine. Under the health “reform” championed by Biden when he served as President Barack Obama’s vice president, I live that reality every day.

Twice over the past three years, ObamaCare has had no plans to sell us that covers little girls ravaged by cancer or recovering from that ordeal — and it might leave us floundering again.

In November 2015, my wife got the most dreadful call a parent can get. The doctor knew why our daughter Colette, then 2 ½ years old, hadn’t been feeling well: Blood work had revealed leukemia.

Thanks to ObamaCare, we were already in financial straits. In 2014, the law had eliminated a great plan we had had for years. Before ObamaCare went into effect, the private marketplace offered us a wide menu of relatively inexpensive plans that covered specialist care, even out of state.

Afterward, however, all that was left were increasingly costly plans with fewer benefits. Premiums swelled. In 2017, I took my family into the ObamaCare marketplace to escape at least the crushing premiums.

I sincerely apologize.

I saw the title and did not read and responded as a smart arse. Only saw Op-Ed and made poor assumption it was questionable story in support of Obamacare. Did not realize it was personal tragedy of board member.

Will delete.

Our daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. We have always had excellent group medical. Obamacare and the implications of marking our group plan as a "Cadillac Plan" set off all sorts of bean counting and scrutiny we never faced before.

I shite you not.... We had to get the hospital she was diagnosed in 2001 to get us a copy of the genetic test in 2014. Countless approval processes, audits, ect… It has been a nightmare.

I have been told if indemnity $ hits too high compared to the premiums, the plan is taxed like a Cadillac plan. Our group medical PPO is now like a frigging hit squad.

Progressives get to frick up every aspect of the economy because they're ideologically sick and then get to point fingers at Republicans for ruining everything when we figure out the consequences.

The ACA is a Stinking Pile of Shitt. It’s sucks. It has destroyed the Greatest healthcare system in the World. Only Cuck liberal doctors think otherwise.

Trump had a major debate whiff when Biden claimed nobody lost their health insurance plan under Obamacare.

Millions lost their plan, including me. Now premiums, deductibles and co-insurance are sky high. I'm stuck in a job I hate b/c it offers a decent group plan and if I left I would be subject to these ridiculous Marketplace plans that cost $600 and amount to what is essentially catastrophic coverage only.

Trump should have hammered that. Who knows, maybe his internals showed a lot of undecided voters in swing states fell into the benefit group for Obamacare - ie, working class poor that needed subsidies that were tossed on the back of the struggling middle class.

Me too. Blue Cross Blue Shield cancelled my plan with the quickness. Just saw a hole biden on YouTube stating that if you like your current plan you can keep your current plan. Where have I heard him say that before?

St Jude’s . I’ve sent kids there for cancer treatment. It’s free.....They even have places for parents to stay and traveling expenses. There are Shriners and other orgs that do this as well. Good places to donate as well, esp around Christmas. The fact that people believe this thread........lol

Was some place like St. Jude not available to help in situations like this? I know they take kid cancer patients and never charge a cent for treatment. I know that doesn't fix Obamacare issue but I was just genuinely curious.

Side note I lost my long standing company BCBS company funded plan in 2013. I went from not having to pay anything for my healthcare plan with my employer(still with same employer) to having to pay almost $400 month for single coverage and less benefits. All in 7 short years. Obamacare was and is a fricking disaster.

Only Dems point to the steaming pile of shite that they created and act like it's a good thing because it was the only thing they allowed to come forth.

You don't box Repubs out of the entire ACA negotiation/creation debacle, then turn around and blame them when your creation is outed for being objective shite.

Not everyone should HAVE to go to St. Jude's for treatment. There should be a better system with insurance coverage and Obamacare ain't it.

We get it...you’re paying 5 dollars a month for healthcare because you’re a poor. I’ve worked for 3 companies in my 40 year career and never had to pay a monthly premium until frickhead got his ACA passed. Not to mention that my deductible went though the roof. I don’t care about anyone but me and my family. Your problem should have never become mine.
