She is right. She also needs to ensure she is repenting of her sins and trusting in Christ for her forgiveness. Being a public figure puts her profession of faith in the spotlight.

The dead are asleep, awaiting meeting the Lord in the air.
But there is a sequence.

God's not opening any Judgement Day books from His throne in either "Heaven" or "Hell.
And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. (John, Revelation 20:12).
Unlike the deceased, there's still time for anyone and everyone who doesn't know Jesus to ask Him to change your heart, be repentant about the past, and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior.

This makes the most sense of the totality of scriptures both OT and NT. I once spoke to a Catholic priest at a small parish, and old guy, and he agreed with me.
But that’s not what a lot of Catholics, orthodox, Protestants, and evangelicals believe.
