the older conservatives that were harping about SS/Medicare reform 10 years ago
Reform that democrats REFUSED to go along with, right? Democrats are saying now that SS/Medicare will be cut when there are THOUSANDS of other handouts that could be cut first. Like giving those between 18-65 who are able to work a check for not working.

That's what you got? Geez. If you are between 18 and 65, are otherwise able to work, then you should work or starve.

Ok. But food stamps is a tiny tiny drop in the bucket compared to social security or Medicare. Attacking EBT and thinking you've done something is delusional

Dude, you are trying to have a rational discussion with SFP, a being whose cognitive thought processes are not much higher than that of a retard. God bless you.

But these thousands of other handouts are nothing compared to the size of social security and Medicare.

Have I mentioned him in this thread at all?

Neocons is like other words reinvented by Trukpkins, it has no meaning anymore b/c the definition was changed to an esoteric moving target. Like "conservative" (see: this thread where Trumpkins are simping for Leftism and claiming it's real conservatism)

That's how taxes work.
It was not sold as a tax. You look back. It was sold as a safety net that would be there for people when they were old. Many people in the 1950's, 60's and 70's trusted the government. Had the gov't not taken that 12% every year, people could have put that money in a retirement account themselves. HAD the democrats (LBJ) and later establishment republicans (democrat lites) not stolen from the SS fund, it would be fine

I don't support the programs for the freeloaders either. I CERTAINLY don't support paying someone else's student loans.

Just because people are ignorant doesn't change reality.

It's a tax and spend entitlement program. That is reality.

While this isn't 100% true, you're arguing against yourself.

You're arguing that productive young people should be taxed for a system that will be eliminated or completely reformed by the time they are able to claim the entitlement. You can't defend "those that worked for 50-60 years" by fricking over those who are about to work for 50-60 years. By the very structure of your argument you are picking the population you choose to defend at the expense of those outside of the population. This means the underlying rhetoric of your argument loses any value, b/c your actual argument is deciding which population gets to benefit from the entitlement and not anything underlying the entitlement itself.

You're not begging, if you earned something that you were promised. I spent 11 1/2 years in the military. Paid into the GI bill and was promised a certain amount each month for 36 months while attending college full time. Used all of it when I separated to get my degrees. Was I begging for entitlements?

Stop taxing workers and employers. Proportionally split what's left based on how much the individual paid in.

No more benefits.
