If you don't believe in the power exerted, the response to this question becomes irrelevant.
If your entire justification is based in the response to this question, then you can justify any government power (to the point of assassination without due process) by creating a scary enough perceived out group/bad guy.

I’m not trusting anyone. I can just see what’s right in front of me. Speed boats are coming from countries where the cartel operates, we are blowing them up. No dept state conspiracy needed.

Yes I believe the Venezuelan Socialist/anti American /Cartel/Mob Family is running drugs. I have heard Venezuelans discuss it for many years. Everyone know it. It’s fact. You know this too.
The better question is why you would allow previous CIA/ FBI excess to use your healthy skepticism against you in such a way that it becomes unhealthy and has you railing against the national security interests of your own country. Your anti Statist zeal ( which is healthy) has given you the self conceit that all actions by The State are nefarious. It’s simplistic and dangerous- just in the opposite way.

Just think about the precedent these operations are setting moving forward, especially based on such flimsy rhetoric (see above), and tell me that is palatable.
There was a time when it was accepted by MAGA that the WOT-related legislations were bad things, especially when their abuse was shown by the Obama admin. Now we're not even using those on actual terrorists and are warping domestic-police operations into military operations (which aren't subject to review).
