The National Health System in the UK is reviled by MOST of the people
From what I've read the UK NHS is the worst of public systems
but at least you can go private if you have means.
Canada sucks too because they outlawed private care so the US was the only escape (I understand that this is changing via court cases at the Canadian Supreme Court).
The French system might be the better of the bunch. From what I see everyone gets health insurance (mandatory) and they can go to any doctor they want to. But there is a twist. When you get service you pay for it with your own money and later put in a claim for reimbursement (and get 80% back or so).
At least introduces a smidgen of market forces.

Healthcare.gov is a website. It is not Healthcare itself.
That's correct... a point I've already made... and which seems lost on Zach and on the author of his linked article.
quote:
Private enterprise, not the government, had to step in and spend tens of millions of tax dollars to repair and fix the effort made by the government,
The government was never the author of the website. We contracted a private enterprise from the very beginning, so your point is invalid.

Even now, it is still so insecure that one would be foolish to supply a social security number in making application.
That's opinion, not fact. If there has been one case of stolen identity because of Healthcare.gov I haven't heard about it.

The article that HC.gov is not working well is from Today.

I'm presently in recovery from a major operation and in uncertain transition from Louisiana to Virginia... which makes volunteering more difficult.... but I've done volunteer work in both places.

It was contracted by govt mandate... the ACA.

that's great..and I bet you were much more efficient than Govt bureaucrats

To answer your question Rex, yes the majority of the people that I personally know there would love to have their system repealed and go back to free market health care. I do not pretend to know every person in the UK but the ones I do hate the system they have. When you talk about the Canadians you talk to are they dyed in the wool socialist like yourself? If so you are just sitting in an echo chamber hearing what you like.

What did you have done, Rex?

The UK's, France's, Australia's, Canada's
None of these have the demographics, median income, economy, tax bases or lack thereof, massive welfare for its citizens and illegals, culture makeup, and overall lifestyles the US has.
It's idiotic to ignore that and still assume their system could work in a country completely different to them.

Canada is the size of California, and energy rich and not scared to use it. that comparison is stupid although there are known flaws in its system..many Canadians come south for health care

but but success! and move on! and it is decided!

Why Healthcare.gov Sucks? Because They Hired Political Cronies, Not Internet Native Companies To Build It

Healthcare.gov users told to change passwords due to Heartbleed risk

Healthcare.gov takes on Heartbleed: another casualty of the SSL vulnerability, Healthcare.gov is asking users to change their passwords as the operators cannot tell how many users may have had them stolen.
Don't delude yourself. The government accountability here is lax and it wasted a HUGE amount of time and money because of blind loyalty to political friends. Why do I trust government to run anything when they remain unaccountable for anything. frick up? No problem. People die? No problem. Waste hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars? No problem.
Rex, your blind loyalty to this administration is unwavering. I'm a pretty reasonable person, and enjoy spirited debate, but your blindness to the lack of accountability and calling a failure an achievement makes me question your ability to be objective. It's like, if I had an accident and was bleeding out, I question whether you'd help me by stopping the bleeding, or just let me bleed out because I'm older and "I had lived a good life".

Damn man hope it works out for you and you have a full recovery. Quick question really none of my business but since we are anon. here. Did you get a policy allowing for pre-existing conditions from the ACA?

When was it done? Would say "God Bless" but I guess I'll go with "Best Wishes" for your full recovery.

Yes... from one of this country's major private insurance providers.... the type of policy that was not previously available.
Posted on 5/11/14 at 12:06 pm to Rex
What did you have prior to this sweet new insurance? As a retired two time CFO I am sure you had a policy.
