The agency says the petitions in question include signatures from people paid to sign their names and the names of the deceased – a finding at least one campaign disputes.

"We strongly believe they are refusing to count thousands of signatures from legitimate voters who signed the petitions and look forward to winning this fight before the board and, if necessary, in the courts," said John Yob, a consultant for the Johnson campaign.

Reading more about this, it appears that the companies these campaigns hired to collect signatures, either intentionally or unintentionally, gathered bogus signatures that couldn't be authenticated. So, these candidates thought they had the proper signatures, but turns out some fraudsters pretended to get them signatures, but didn't.

The candidates that hired these companies think they brought them bogus signatures on purpose, just so they wouldn't qualify.
