Pedestrian bridge across a major street at Florida International University.

The span in question was only laid this past Saturday.

New bridge.

Collapse.

Several dead?

They need to immediately set a perimeter to avoid any deaths during the lawyer stampede.

Pretty much.

I recommend countermeasures of ambulances driving in reverse to take out the first wave of them.

So damn sad. Wishing peace on the families of the deceased.

Is this an engineering failure?

That’s the school’s press release from Monday announcing the laying of the bridge superstructure over the weekend.

I have a feeling the faculty members quoted in that article will get deposed in the upcoming lawsuits.

This type of thing is truly heart-breaking to me. These people had nothing to do with that bridge and the odds of them being parked beneath it at the exactly wrong time is just so unfair.
