No more halftime, no more competition, no more homecoming. Nothing. Band has been disbanded.

Band director terminated as well.

"Community Leaders" having a press conference in front of the school saying the MHSAA is racist - they want to lynch the students.

Press Conference

Also, yesterday, school ratings were released in Mississippi - Forest Hill was rated an F academically and only 15% of their students can read. They keep talking about wanting to have a conversation. Let's have that conversation.

Forest Hill High School (all black school - MS) went to another town - Brookhaven and had a performance where they performed a skit where guns were pointed at police.

Brookhaven had just buried two police officers that week. Badge numbers were painted on the same field that they performed this skit.

State Activities Association just suspended the band from performing for the rest of the year in any capacity.

This press conference is gold. "The band director didn't know police had been shot! He doesnt watch the news!"

Any context on this?

What exactly did they do?

Edit: see somebody above me posted the explanation.

So once again someone's controversial political view fricks it up for the ones not wanting to be political? This seems to be a spreading disease with the left. Obama and Holder were too damn complacent with this type shite and this is the reward being reaped now that they are gone.

I hate the band has been disbanded. There are kids who's only chance is to get a band scholarship and this hurts them. I'm glad the band director was fired. Taking away the art from the kids is the wrong thing.

They did a halftime performance involving cops being held at gunpoint. In Brookhaven, which just had two cops murdered.

See you just don't understand. This was not some political stunt this was just a reenactment of a scene from John Q.

Sounds like the kids were complicit in this. They should share the blame.

Does not matter. It was a shitty skit that should never have been done in the first place for any reason.

It came out earlier this week that some parents pulled their kids from band after finding out that this was being performed. They knew, and they willingly went down to Brookhaven and did this. And the idiots screaming freedom of speech do not understand that the 1st amendment does not apply here.

The government funded and directed the performance.

Statistically speaking, it had to happen eventually.
