Mexico President Says U.S. Finances Anti-Corruption 'Coup Plotters' Group

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico has sent a diplomatic note asking the United States to suspend funding for an anti-corruption group critical of the government, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Friday.
Lopez Obrador said the formal protest was sent because of financial backing for Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI), a group that investigates political corruption. The president says the group is seeking to undermine his government.
"It's interference, it's interventionism, it's promoting coup plotters," said Lopez Obrador, describing funding that includes money from the U.S. Agency for International Development, commonly known as USAID, as an affront to Mexico's sovereignty.
"That's why we're asking that (the U.S. government) clarifies this for us. A foreign government can't provide money to political groups."

Lopez Obrador was later asked if he believed the U.S. government was seeking to remove him from office, and he responded that he did not believe that was the case.
Lopez Obrador, who has touted his good relations with both the previous Trump administration and the current Biden administration, was speaking shortly before a call with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris about immigration.
On its website, MCCI lists USAID among its financial backers, which it says in total number more than 1,000 donors.

Yep, and it is no secret the democrats don't like Mexico's Presidente' if not for the simple reason he worked well with OMB.

I may be misremembering, but wasn't USAID tied to CIA at some point in some way?
ETA: NYT seems to think so, or at least did.
Who would have guessed
Where once the CIA fought communism, now they fight Trump and anyone that has ever agreed with Trump.

There is a world of difference between American foreign assistance programs that openly support democratic development, human rights and socioeconomic progress, and the type of clandestine operations aimed at regime change that United States Agency for International Development has been running under the guise of a “democracy” promotion program in Cuba. Those programs are not only counterproductive, they are an abject violation of Cuba’s sovereignty, undermine American interests in Cuba’s slow but steady political and economic transition, and endanger the legitimate missions of U.S.A.I.D. around the world.

They do it all over the world. They are called NGO's. If anyone believes these are "Non Government Organizations" I would refer you to the old adage of beach front property for sale in Arizona.

I've read that CIA operatives and analysts use USAID and other NGO's as a 'cover' when establishing themselves in a foreign country.

You guys would be disgusted if you saw how your tax dollars are used by all these govt agencies.
St. Vincent, is run by Gonsalves a prominent position in the UN, and a devout socialist, he even refers to you as "comrade". Aid has gone to build the following:
Some concrete waterfall looking thing that is half built, supposedly was going to be some hydropower project. Several half built dilapidated shacks that were supposed to be built to promote tourism during carnival. A half built airport on the windy side of the island that regional carriers have said they cant use because of the wind gusts. A half built industrial park with concrete structures never completed. I can guarantee the millions that will flow in there due to the volcano eruption will be squandered.
And this is one small country. The bigger the country the worse the projects and graft. Trinidad is begging for vaccines to be donated and last month we received yet another ferry for 400 million US from Australia, Australia said it cost 300 million and our Prime Minister...lost the paperwork. Yet is begging for covid help from the first world.
None of these countries need our help, when they get it they simply use their own tax dollars to benefit themselves and use US aid to build stuff they should and could have built themselves if they were not thiefing so much.

I'm sure we have a hand in a negative way in what is happening down in Colombia right now too. Big pinko push going to ruin that nation like Venezuela was.
