It's amazing how the media praised that Hanks & Streep movie about The Post fighting to get government documents released while at the same time showing zero interest in current democrats blocking documents from being released.

It is congress's constitutional duty to provide oversight.
Actually as HeyHeyHogsAllTheWay pointed out, Constitution grants Congress implied powers to have oversight authority but it is not a specific authority that they are required to undertake. It’s obviously an important part of the checks and balances but it’s neither a explicit power nor is any power really necessary to weild (like the ability to impose taxes).

But as it pertains to DOJ oversight and ongoing investigations, the courts and Congress’s own oversight manual acknowledge that both sides have legitimate claims in fued’s like this, which are quite common actually. In the end, congress does have the authority but that doesn’t mean it’s always in the best interests to potentially expose evidence of an ongoing investigation, especially if it’s for more political purposes.

So to pretend that the moral authority is with the crooked politicians or the crooked investigators is a usually a lose-lose no matter what .

This is corruption of the vilest kind and you want them to leave the assholes to “investigate” themselves?

Are you stupid or corrupt?

Let’s not pretend one side is exclusively corrupt while the other side is exclusively beacons if morality and truth.

Maybe one side is more swampy than the other but they are both still swamp creatures.

So while one is probably stupid to put their unconditional faith in the DOJ’s honesty, it’s borderline insane to put one’s unconditional faith in the honest of politicians, especially ones like Nunes and Schiff who are actively seeking out attention to pronounce the most extreme and conveniently partisan views as some objective truth.

Hell, one of the dumbocrats brought up immigration at the southern border...guess he went to the wrong room. Oh, and another one was asking WrayStein if her policemen killing black criminals question was being looked into.

They do have a problem with staying focused...so used to talking point responses they get confused.

Even though the investigation was founded on forged documents and lies?

Forged documents? Well that would seem like a story too big for even the liberal left to pass up, especially the NYTs and WaPos who have journalists vying for that type of story.

So did I miss this? And as it pertains to being founded on lies. I’m assuming this is referring to the dossier, which Trump and fetishes aside, the actual parts that relate to possible crimes have had some corroborating evidence that isn't super newsworthy like peegate but probably more important to an investigation.

Still if that was the ONLY basis then that would be a problematic foundation. But since we weren’t given many details about the FISA warrant, we have no idea if that is the case and it could be a convenient lie of omission by Nunes since which he clearly did in regards to Rosenstein's reauthorization (the 4th authorization) that lacks any details about the basis of it, which conveniently makes it seem like the dossier is the basis. But if it was, then Nunes would undoubtedly include that, as he should.

And every single one voted against the immigration bill

But for sure their challengers running to enter congress will be independent minded moderates thru and thru!

Guess the new moderate from pa voted in lockstep but he did it very very moderately!

Dude, turn the page. She lost. You still want to investigate her emails? You don't need to pretend to think her emails are a big deal anymore. It's over. She was vanquished. You never have to deal with your irrational hatred for her again.

A couple of things are wrong with this. The first thing is this:

quote:

turn the page. She lost.

So that's the punishment for breaking the law? Don't think so. Hold her accountable if she did wrong. The "after the fact" election result is NOT her punishment for what she did.

ou still want to investigate her emails? You don't need to pretend to think her emails are a big deal anymore. It's over.

This isn't about her emails. We all know she broke the law regarding her emails, that's not up for debate. It's about the way HER investigation was handled and then comparing that to how Trumps is...which is VERY relevant as IT IS ONGOING!

quote:

She was vanquished. You never have to deal with your irrational hatred for her again.

No, we aren't rid of her. She isn't vanquished. Honestly, I thought Obama would play the "bitter ex-girlfriend" role after leaving office but to his credit, he has remained relatively quiet. Probably b/c he knows when to shut-up. It's HILLARY HERSELF that keeps her in the news with her bellyaching of how she lost. Plus, she is likely to run again if it were up to her! She doesn't have the stamina for the job.

When someone breaks the law, why isn't it worthy of attention? How about someone who is running for the highest office in the land?

Congressional Republicans after they dragged the country through a 2 year long Benghazi investigation that yielded no results.

Have you ever thought it yielded nothing because top officials at FBI/DOJ---> who are now disgraced over not following proper procedure & using bias----> were in charge at the time? Wasn't one of those in charge found in contempt? Haven't we found out so many secrets in the past 2 years that happened during the Obama reign which would rightly cause one to question the outcome of these investigations? Logically speaking, it should!

Isn't that why giving the documents to congress SO EXTREMELY IMPORTANT at this time? We don't know if this damn investigation is legit or not & the origination is being hid from congress & US, the AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!

Hold up. WTF? Are you babbling about? Not only was it known it was front page news. Then candidate Trump told everyone about it and the leftwing machine lost their minds calling him a liar and defending their black jesus.
