McCarthy floats impeachment inquiry into Garland

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) floated a possible impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Merrick Garland over alleged political bias and “weaponization” of the Department of Justice, with the push fueled by an IRS whistleblower’s claims about tax crime investigations into Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son.
“We need to get to the facts, and that includes reconciling these clear disparities. U.S. Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee,” McCarthy said in a tweet.
“If the whistleblowers’ allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland’s weaponization of DOJ.”
Last week, Republicans on the House Ways and Means committee released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers — agent Gary Shapley, and another unnamed agent — who were involved in investigating Hunter Biden’s taxes. They alleged that prosecutors slow-walked the case against Hunter Biden.
That investigation, led by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, resulted in Hunter Biden reaching a deal to plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay income tax, and reaching an agreement to enter a pretrial diversion program relating to unlawful possession of a weapon.
The DOJ did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but Garland last week shot down the suggestion that Hunter Biden was treated with a more leniency due to his relation to President Biden.

What ever happens to these whistleblowers in this Admin? Are they shipped to Guantanomo? Put into protective custody somewhere? Return to work?
They literally wreck their lives for us. Not to mention live in fear of retaliation.

Funny that we had all out investigations, hearings, and impeachment votes for a phone call (with only a "whistle blower") false narrative and now we have evidence from a computer that Hunter put the information in and they sit on it for a number of years.
Strange how we handle things differently for (D)ifferent people.

I feel for these whistle blowers. Motivated by their sense of duty and as a last resort, these guys turn to Congress in hopes of making things better. Regretfully, I have lost faith in the Republicans and don't think much will be done. They will talk and investigate but in the end, it will be the same continued soap opera in DC.

Don’t buy their lies. The GOP is just a controlled opposition wing of the uniparty.

If only we had someone that could have saved us from such a swampy pick

but doesn't this truly come down to David Weiss wanting his livelihood? can he testify in private and go into protection? at the least they will make his career be washed up.

DC GOP does bark some like a little dog but do they ever bite ? DC dems are ruthless meanwhile. Either shut the F up or start impeachment hearings on Biden not garland

They are all up for election in about a year. You think they will start and then complete any investigation into Garland and do articles of impeachment and a trial in that time.
I've got some swamp land to sell if interested.

That's because kangaroo courts don't need actual evidence, don't give a frick about truth, etc. They have a verdict then convene their tribunal to render it.
We, on the other hand, are still determined to dig evidence out of whatever stone it exists (unless blocked by the DOJ, but sometimes in spite of that) in order to make sure the charges are legitimate. That, unfortunately, takes time.
Now, add that extra time to the fact that many in the GOP in Congress are merely paper tigers and you get our current clusterfrickery.

Performance art.
innuendo.

by golly I might repeal the Obama care.
by golly I might fund the wall.
hold me back.

What tipped you off? Was it the failure to literally fricking do anything that finally brought you around?
I had to take a few days off from politics after the Schiff censure debacle, followed by them tabling Boebert's impeachment floor vote. It was then and there I realized that these "republicans" are literally bigger snakes than the dems ever were, and that is a tough task. Sure I rip on Jim Jordan as just being a blowhard who goes on Hannity to tough talk (then LITERALLY do nothing), but this time it was right there and they failed to do anything.
The Republican House will do nothing until Nov 2024. There will be grumblings and Comer going on TV to toot his horn, but that's it. Nothing. No impeachments. Maybe some censures with no strings attached. Gutless, pretend investigations, etc.
The establishment Republicans have been the enemy all along. Anything that threatens the uniparty is the only thing they'll fight. All along, they're just jocking for better lobbyist hires. Who knew?
