The rooftop video actually shows the SUV slow down and try to go around the marching band, There was just nowhere to go. Pedestrians filled the sidewalks on both sides and the marching band took up the entire road. If they were trying to kill whitey to make a statement they would have gone full throttle right through the center mass or gone sidewalk surfing.
Either way they are going to jail for the rest of their life.
Again, I would not rule out anything based on the current political climate. And based on these initial reports we are practically receiving in real time, it is easy to draw hasty concussions.
But your point is well stated: at some point the driver made a decision to crash through barricades and mow down innocent people with less compunction than most drivers would show for a chipmunk crossing the street. Whatever the motive, it would take a wicked soul to commit such a crime.

Twitter peeps are saying the police scanner mentioned a license belonging to Darrell Brooks was found in the SUV. The license was also suspended.
I think it's time for our government to go after these people driving with suspended licenses and lock them up for an automatic 5 years, because I'm starting to fear for my life.
