re: Map of Chinese-owned farmland in U.S. Why is so much of it next to military bases?

The American landowners who sold to the Chinese should be kicked out of the country.
In one of the reports I saw last year an American was used to buy up most of the land and then he sold it to China.
Don't recall if this was the one that involved a runway or not.

Holy shite. They own half of north carolina

Probably because the entire USA is dotted with military bases. I am a pilot, and the MOAs (Military Operations Areas) are on the aviation charts. You can’t swing a cat without sending it through an MOA.

there's no way in hell that Communist foreign nationals and governments should be able to own ANY US soil. None
Yes, they should. It is the other nations, which follow your advice, that are the suckers. There are several important factors to consider and they all militate toward allowing foreigners, especially our enemies, to buy our land.
The most obvious, and most important, is that in the event of hostilities we can confiscate their land, thus having possession of both their land and their money.
The second is that a US citizen (or entity) decided to sell that land, and therefore, in his judgement, it was a good deal that profited him at China’s expense.
The third reason is that we can very easily spy on any activity concerning that land.
I can think of no negative reasons. The odds are that these purchases are being made by Chinese nationals who are trying to transfer their wealth out of Xi’s clutches, and have chosen the land of opportunity. We should welcome them with open arms. These are the clever, the opportunistic, the hustlers and entrepreneurs. Welcome to your real home, baby!

they can easily spy on us and plus our intelligence agencies are too busy spying on US citizens who looked at going to the jan 6th “insurrection”

OP map of China-owned farmland appears to be accurate, and scary.
Commies are scary.
Those in charge of the Dems love commies.
Therefore you should vote someone other than a Dem.

I mean, why would they?
Their comrade, Bill Gates, has bought it for them.

Was stationed there in the early 90's for a couple of years.
Not a bad assignment, but it did have the longest off-limits list I remember, mainly due to Shreveport.

It’s mostly Chinese investors from what I gather but the data is limited and hard to decipher. I haven’t seen a thorough breakdown of independent investment vs govt owned. I can see why investors would want to. The govt backing anything would be a big red flag. I imagine these have heavy satellite surveillance
Do you really believe “Chinese investors” aren’t part of the CCP

Some are, some aren’t. I imagine they’re more interested in making money a than anything else. I’m not sure what they would be able to do with us seeing it.

I have 5 and 0.
Your logic is poor at best. One is illegal already, one isn’t.

Finally someone who can see beyond soundbites.
Whether this board likes it or not, the US participates in the global economy, US nationals own tons of real assets all of the world. You can’t just proclaim, “this should be illegal,” while blissfully ignoring the consequences of that decision with, “you can’t be this fricking stupid.”
I should have known asking the politard board to think about what they really don’t like about it was a bridge too far.

They call those satellites, you don’t need thousands of acres of land to do this. I mean come on guys try and use your brain. You guys have seen too many movies where they say hide in plain sight and thought…yeah that’s how it really works in the world.

How does that contradict what I posted? It seems to confirm it. I made the point that there are a lot of military bases in Louisiana, and you reply that one of them is important?

All have to play by their rules and deal with the consequences. Private ownership is a very thin shell in China.
