To put this retarded statement into context, the price of a year of tuition at LSU in 1970 was roughly $250. The average home price in Louisiana sold in 1970 was about 14k. If you needed a vehicle, a new car was about 3k. So a degree, a home, and a vehicle, all things a new professional would need to take on the world, would cost around 20k.

Tuition at universities nationwide have skyrocketed because 1) you have to now have elaborate facilities, modern amenities, lots of dining and things like coffee shops, and more upscale living spaces to recruit students because the students now require this. 2) the government got into the student loan business and will loan whatever the colleges want to charge.

New cars? Because no one would want it. Even you, the apparent cost conscious consumer, called it a "gulag". Modern convenience is the norm now. Soft, plush, roomy, connected, convenient.

But in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's... these "gulag" accommodations were the norm. And many of these people come back to their respective universities to visit when they can. That shows you how really bad it actually was.

What the hard concept is to actually figure out is why the entire country bitches about the purchasing power of the dollar today... and then are completely indifferent about the government throwing money away and then increasing the debt to fund the giveaways. Zero point zero concern about that. Massive fraud has been uncovered... no mass outrage. Mass abuse of social services... no mass outrage. Mass waste of money to fund near useless programs... no mass outrage. Mass waste of money to prop up illegals.... no universal mass outrage.

Another thing I find absolutely hilarious, many people who bitch about things being so expensive donate to a universities NIL fund to pay college football players to come to their school to play football. Simply so they can spend thousands to follow their paid players to the playoffs and pay to cheer on these universities who are getting the windfall from the conference. And then in the next breath, complain about the cost of the university.
