There's no reason to be paranoid after all who would think the city would annex them without asking them first ?

I'm probably going overboard after watching Colombe, Broom, Nevers, Holden, and Daniels working to change laws in midstream.

Their lack of transparency regarding the petition for signatures has bothered me from the get go. Nobody ever knows how many they have. It really makes you wonder how well its going.

You'd think if it was going really well, they would sound more positive about it and be trying to get that number out there more.
Of course they would.

The city doesn't annex people without their knowledge right ?

They are the good guys.

That is putting it nicely, the "leaders" of the movement were the ones who stood the most to gain. Their personal interests stood to profit, and I saw nothing about HOW they would improve schools besides throwing cash at them(which would help, but not the end all be all, especially when they were going to start bussing in Gardere kids).

I found it amusing that many believed Rainey was a non-resident helping St George out of the good of his heart.

Are you saying the OLOL, MoL, et al, don't know they signed the petition? You're not being coherent.

You are right, they probably called GGP and offered them to be in the city and nothing more. They probably jumped at the chance after thinking about it for a couple of days . After all there has been a run of people trying to get into the city of late , right?

Who? Your like? No... You'll keep retreating and investing in pasture land, forever thinking you can run away from your problems when all you really do is delay it so your kids can be handed the surrender flag. You couldn't see the benefit in an actual functioning and desirable urban city if someone gave you a cliff notes book on it. You're still stuck in Daddy's mistakes to understand the importance of that, but shite, look at Baton Rouge, and it's a mirror of St. George because it's the people of St. George who are as guilty as anyone in giving such indifferent attention to it which resulted in its current condition over the years. You would just a soon not look in the mirror, rather now claim it's someone else's mirror, and this St. George thing is something other than the convoluted entity it really is.

You are Baton Rouge... FACT.

Or that Hoffpauer (spelling?), whose company specializes in designing & building schools, has no ulterior motives in trying to lead an effort which has already said wants to build 6 new schools. Lol.

I finally had time to find a link for you regarding the lapse of police academies.

The article was written in the Advocate in 2011 and it indicates that Kip included a new academy in his budget in 2012 after not having an academy since 2009.

Believe it or not, even in St. George, all people do not believe that a suburban utopia is the American dream. I have met many dissidents that just could not fathom this idea. There is nothing wrong with the suburbs, but you need to all types of neighborhoods working together in a functioning city.

Many EBR residents see the huge strides the city has made in the past 15 years and dont think we need to destroy the city in order to "save" it.

Thanks. I notice you didn't comment on the projected cost per cadet or in total to hold the academy.

Have you forgotten what was happening to sales tax collections and property values resulting from the 2008 recession?

You act like Holden just decided to not hold academies because he forgot about it or decided that crime wasn't bad.

Sure I'm BR , lived here all my life.

I was educated in the public school system and graduated from LSU.

I'm hopeless.

He is just in it for the children.

Rainey accusing government of underhanded wrongdoing is rich as well, with his sole source state contract $1 below public bid law.

That was my fault. The notices were posted. The public hearings were held. I was working 70 hours/week running my business. I didn't oppose being annexed. Frankly my homeowners insurance dropped about 15% because of it.

I'm on record saying it's about the schools. I could care less about the city of SG but I think we have to have an ISD.

Mike does make a good point though. What exactly have the SG leaders said about what they are going to do differently to make their school system so much better?
