Good ole boy Sheriff Jason Ard lost in his bid to take half a cent from the citizens of LP. I, for one, am proud that I contributed to this loss.

Good. It seemed excessive. Both taxesin Lafayette Parish (where I live) seem like they’re going to fail too.

I think voters are just tired of taxes

And JBE wants more taxes in next year's session.

He's going down like Owlie goes down on trannies.

I voted against. All for having resource officers in the schools but the numbers made no sense at all. Half a cent? That projects to wayyyyy too much money.

Also my sons school principal and Wentzel calling me unsolicited sealed the deal for me.

Asked for way too much $ for "school resource officers"...first off, absolutely no need for each one to have a fully police equipped Tahoe, no explanation as to their duties when school is NOT in session, WHERE was all that excess $ going to go towards....too many questions unanswered to vote for that massive tax increase !

Yeah. He will try again and again. He did lose a lot of political clout with this and his ego is severely bruised. He’ll be back, no doubt about it.

They’ll try to increase the millage instead of a sales tax. Shoppers are already balking at the high tax rate and starting to factor that into their buying decisions.

He just posted an update on Facebook

quote:

Following tonight’s election results:

I’ve said from the very beginning, this is the people’s choice. As you can see, it was not 100%, either way. 44% wanted this. 56% did not. I never tried to hide anything and I put this proposal on the biggest ballot after being asked by Livingston Parish school leaders to help our children. It doesn’t matter what is proposed, you will always have people that are for and are against. This is not going to push us apart. On some things, we will have to agree to disagree. And, that’s ok. Business must – and will – go on! The safety of our children and our citizens will continue to consume my life every day. I will continue to work with our school system and do the best we can with what we have. Let’s continue to pray that horrific events never happen where we live. I have no further plans of another proposal. I work for the people. The people have spoken. This is what the democratic process is all about. It is an honor to serve and protect the people of Livingston Parish. God Bless.

-Sheriff Jason Ard

Like you said, bruised ego. Glad he got knocked down
