Louisiana Senate passes restrictions on transgender athletes that a House committee rejected

quote:

Louisiana Senate approved Wednesday evening legislation nearly identical to a bill restricting transgender youth from participating in public school athletics that House committee rejected on Tuesday.

State Sen. Beth Mizell, a Franklinton Republican, said she was concerned only with women’s rights. Her Senate Bill 156 forbids athletes who started life as male but now are female from participating in women’s sports.

She reminded her 39 colleagues of other measures “we have done together to protect the fact that men and women are different.”

quote:

Voting to forbid anyone not female at birth from participating in organized girls’ sports (29): President Cortez, Sens. Abraham, Allain, Barrow, Bernard, Cathey, Cloud, Connick, Foil, Henry, Hensgens, Hewitt, Jackson, Lambert, McMath, Milligan, F. Mills, R. Mills, Mizell, Morris, Peacock, Pope, Reese, Smith, Talbot, Tarver, Ward, White and Womack.

Voting against SB156 (6): Sens Boudreaux, Carter, Fields, Harris, Luneau and Price.

Not Voting (4): Reps Bouie, Fesi, Johns and Peterson.

So how does it work now that the Senate voted yes, house no, and the gvnr probably to vote no?

This is dumb.

Dudes dominating girls in girls' sports is a great way to red pill a lot of young people. Why put a stop to that?

You can’t leave anything conservative up to the LHSAA after they chose to split the football playoffs...

BATON ROUGE, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A bill that would keep transgender athletes from participating on all-girls sports teams has been passed through the Louisiana House and is headed to the Senate.

SB 156, proposed by Republican State Senator Beth Mizell, received a 77-17 vote Thursday. Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to veto the bill.

--------------------------------

I just called Beth Mizell's office and left word with an assistant congratulating Mizell for her common sense courage. I hope you'll do the same. Beth Mizell's Phone: (985) 839-3936

I'm happy that our state legislature is spending time on such a critical and important issue. Thankfully its not just red meat they can pass to avoid doing any actual governing.
