This is a prime case of politicians doing what they believe are best for themselves and not the will of the folks who elect them. Very simple and clear case study.
Hopefully, the House comes to its senses and amends the bill to name only the new residence hall being built after Jimmy Long. It would be the highest honor ever bestowed upon one of the four founding fathers of the school.

So the bill was amended to rename the school but if the board chose they could still be called the Louisiana School OF Math, Science and the Arts in the course of doing business for various things.
Not Terrible, but the school's name is the Louisiana School FOR Match, Science and the Arts so they screwed that up.
Still the vote to approve the bill was 56-43 which while a loss, was still nice to see some support.

JBE threw his Senate allies (Long and Thompson) under the bus pretty quick!

JBE loves the Longs and would love for the Edwards of Amite to become the new Longs.
He admires those that enrich themselves from political service.

Meh - maybe the Alost-Long School. But not just for Jimmy.

Ace, you "affiliated" with the school?

What happened? "Attended" ... sort of implies not graduating.

LOTS of supporters of the school in the group

OK ... sorry, didn't mean to pry.
Was just curious. Some folks quit due simply to homesickness.
Wasn't an issue for me ... my folks lived in Natchitoches at the time ... so, I could pretty much go home any time I wanted to.
My father made it very clear that we had zero money for college ... so, my plan was to enlist.
LSMSA helped to open doors that I had never even thought about.

I considered the possibility that I might know you in the past, but I think you are a lot younger than I am. I had a child graduate from LSMSA in the past 10 years.

Jimmy Long High School sounds like a microwave breakfast product.
