Louisiana Lock Down NOT About Safety or Virus

This lockdown is bullshite. While some idiots think it is about safety and "flattening the curve," this is not the case. State Rep. Ted James posted the following yesterday in an attempt to discourage support for overriding the governors order to extend the lockdown. Beware, the link is for his FB page.
Ted James FB Post
Notice how nothing above says anything other than "losing money/funding"? Also, forcing us to stay inside will not make us safer. While people are inside cleaning and disinfecting everything they have, it is weakening their immune system. So when this lockdown order is lifted and people do return to the outside world, they will have weaker immune systems that are likely to be more susceptible to becoming ill.
I am so tired of the bullshite politicians. All clamoring for more "free money" which will only result in the constituents having to pay higher taxes while dealing with higher inflation rates.

Listen up people.
Today, members of the Legislature started to circulate a petition to terminate the Governor’s State of Emergency and State Public Health Emergency due to #COVID19.
While I recognize business owners are impacted by the “stay at home order” during these times, I fully support the 2-week extension for many reasons - chief among those is the preservation of human life. Trust me when I tell you if the numbers we are seeing in parishes like Orleans and East Baton Rouge were the same in parishes like Livingston, Lafayette, and St. Tammany, the powers that be would not call members back to the Capitol.
I’ve been in this position for over 8 years - I love the job and the gamesmanship that comes with politics. (Hell, I’m good at it when the time calls.) This is NOT the time for games or partisan politics, not when people are dying daily in our state.
While there are several issues with terminating the emergency declaration, I’ll highlight a few of the most pressing.
- We stand to lose millions in federal funding should the Governor's emergency order be terminated. The Stafford Act requires that the Governor declare an emergency and certify that the emergency has overwhelmed the state and local resources. By declaring that there is no longer an emergency, the state would be risking the funding that is available through the FEMA public assistance program. (Lawyers are further reviewing if the termination of an emergency declaration would jeopardize any funding through the CARES Act or SBA loans)
- Officials at the LA Dept of Education have advised that such an irresponsible move would jeopardize the waiver granted to the state regarding school attendance requirements.
- The law that authorizes the Legislature to terminate emergency declarations requires consultation with the public health authority, which has NOT occurred.
I’m sure the members who are pushing this agenda haven’t fully considered the health, financial or legal ramifications of such a move.
I would be remiss not to inform you.

None of that is tied to a state's length of being shut down. At least it won't be.

Thank you for this post. Anyone with a lick of common sense knew this was it from the beginning.

Their voters (DEMOCRATS) don't contribute shite to society, so this is what they will always do.

None of these lock downs are about safety or virus. They're about money and control.

Wasn't St. Tammany hit fairly, but kudos to making this about race, Ted.

The liberal establishment has dumbed down their constituents and especially the Black constituents so much they don't think they can economically compete at all. That's why many are always hollering about "minority set asides" and "affirmative action." No, get off your arse and put in the grunt!

JBE is protecting the State from losing millions ... he doesn’t give a shite about the State’s citizens losing millions.

If it were not for term limits I would advocate for people in his district to recall him.
We should recall many state level politicians starting with the governor.
