It really was interesting to watch JBE get angry. He looked like he wanted to take a swing at Doc. The back and forth between those 2 only made Rispone look better. I disagree with the label of “career politician” for Doc. Especially after this performance. He is far from polished and slick. He’s only been in politics for 6 years actually after his vet/med career and had trouble expressing himself. JBE on the other hand...

If you are a Republican or lean that way and voted for JBE last go round, you’re probably the kind of voter who actually watched this debate.

JBE looked like Abraham got under his skin and he lost his cool. But somehow Abraham looked just as bad. Rispone appeared above the fray and like he was running against “politicians” instead of against either of them.

If Rispone doesn’t make the runoff, no way he doesn’t endorse Abraham. But JBE looked pettier and smaller than the moderate and reasonable candidate he presented last go round.

I think the ad was smart, because he took out Abraham, who also took our JBE.

Plus. . . The fricking gas tax. I’m literally floored that Abraham basically took JBE’s position.

IOW- nobody who watched that debate was trying to decide btwn Edwards and one of the others. Anyone who watched was trying to decide btwn Abraham and Rispone in the primary

Just have to laugh at supposed conservatives who support Abraham. That guy is a horrible candidate who’d get clobbered by JBE and probably just get the Bible-beating North Louisiana vote.

Someone compared Rispone to Ross Perot up there. I have to agree... besides not having charts and diagrams.

I am as antitax as it gets, but Louisiana should double its fuel tax.

100% agree. It’s what screwed us last time and left us with this choade we have now

Yep. I almost did not mark him as my second choice on my absentee ballot because of the attack ad, but then I realized that not voting for Rispone if he lucks up and makes it into the runoff is a basically a vote for JBE so I held my nose and did it. I feel much better about it now. I still prefer Abraham because medicaid and the charity system and healthcare in general is the biggest problem facing Louisiana IMO. We need roads and we need jobs but if we don't fix meicaid soon it will literally bankrupt the state. The state's percentage of the medicaid expansion is gradually creeping up and it will be 10% in 2021 which will be at least an additional $300 million per year that the state will have to come up with. If Obamacare is repealed or ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS then it could cost the state an additional billion per year. Lawyers and businessmen gave us the abortion that is medicaid and I do not trust either to get us out of it.

We absolutely need a new state constitution but I do not believe that Rispone has any clue on how to fix medicaid and there is no way Louisiana voters approve a constitution that totally scraps the charity system. The medicaid expansion is now like traditional medicaid we can modify how we run it and who we contract with, but we cannot cut the level of care (and the beurocrats in DC are the judges of that and we all know that gubment workers will rule against any cuts) or we lose all the federal money for medicaid and IIRC there is an automatic payroll tax hike included in the original legislation to make sure that the state has the money to pay its part. JBE's medicaid expansion great for 2 or 3 years but after year 5 it is barb-wire dildo that will be screwing us for years to come.

Sophomoric production.
Not a good structure and the panel was very weak.

Choosing between Abraham or Rispone is like choosing between being kicked in the nuts or punched in the face.

I dunno. I read his position as he just wants to make sure that we are “tax neutral.” So he’s fine with raising the gas tax so long as overall rates remain the same as they are. . . Not sure how that is in any way an anti tax position.

Rispone is running away with that online poll.

And it's not just a Baton Rouge website poll. I've seen all the newstations put a link to it on twitter under a different name but it goes to the same poll.

Toll lanes and toll roads. Florida has them. Texas has them and they have great roads. The toll lanes on I-95 in Miami were every penny that I had to pay while I was living there.

If he openly came out and said he's okay with keeping taxes at the same level they are in the first debate, the first time eyes are really on them, there's no telling what he'd do behind closed doors.

I want the governor to LOWER my taxes.

I was on the fence, and a bit turned off by Rispone's ad. However, he hit it out of the park tonight for me.

It's extremely likely that Abraham could raise taxes, along with the rino republicans in the legislature, based on his "tax neutral" position tonight.

I feel that Rispone is a little more authentic on anti-tax issue.

And for that reason, I'm leaning more towards Rispone, but Abraham will get my vote if he is in the runoff with JBE.

You’re arguing against a very conservative voting record in Congress. Abraham is very much competitive against JBE in the runoff according to polling data.

Oh and JBE is just as bible beating as Abraham is and yet JBE is a member of a political party dedicated to eradicating Christianity in favor of Islam.

Take your anti-Christian schitck somewhere else.
