If that raise was spread out over 150 people that is an average raise of $6,666.66. An average cost of living wage raise is 2-3%. If they are being generous and this is a full 3%. The workers would receive a raise of 6,666.66 I would need to make over 220k. You don’t see an issue with people in our government making over 200k on tax payers dollars? The spending is irresponsible.

Yes, exactly. $6600 per doesn’t seem outlandish.

And if we accept your presumption that each of the 150 are already making 200 prior to this $1m raise, I’m having trouble understanding why your beef is with the governor.

My beef is with their bullshite tax payer salaries. They don’t need a raise making more than 4x their average constituent.

Do we know what they are making now? How does their compensation compare to others in similar positions in state governments across the south?

Got to spend that surplus somehow

Some people in Baton Rouge never change.

There is even talk of squandering the current 80 million surplus on renovations to the capitol building or new offices with surplus dollars.

All the while several state agencies or departments have grown what are called off the book surpluses. The legislature is sitting on 45 million dollars and the state Supreme Court several million more.

$1m in pay raises spread across 150 individuals?

I don’t see the issue.

I'd like a $7000 raise to please.

You get what you vote for. I have a lot of respect for folks from Louisiana, my wife's dad is from Baton Rouge and they still have family there but y'all were foolish to elect a democrat. Of course I can't criticize too much, the fricking idiots in my state damn near elected Stacey Abrams

I don't like the profession. But to be fair it isn't the only job that gets paid low and is expected to be educated.

And what do you expect in rural states where a school, hospital, and Walmart are the staple in most small towns?
