re: Louisiana Can't Elect A Republican Governor. Agree or Disagree?

Hell no on Higgins. The LAGOP might as well burn down.
Right. I like Clay and was elastic watching him beat Snake in the grass Scott Angelle but Clay is too much of a risk and he needs to stay in Congress under Scalise's wing where he hasn't made any trouble and is doing a decent job repping Acadiana.

I think Landry and Graves are giving serious consideration, as possibly Kennedy or Scalise.
I understand that there's no term limits for AG but I believe with Jeff Landry, there's no consideration for him. He's in and running for Governor. It would be a huge shock if he didn't run.
Graves is probable but I think he'll stay in Congress.

Kennedy or Scalise
They have a better chance at Senate and House leadership and they're not going to waste time on the Governor's race.
I believe that once Mitch McConnell is gone, Kennedy will compete against Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader.
Kennedy is very savvy.

If some of the rumors of JBE being pulled away for the Biden Administration are true,
I don't see this happening at least not until redistricting is over because they still need a democrat as Gov to see what kind of maps he can wrangle out of the GOP legislature.
And even then, they're not flipping a Governor's mansion from D to R, even with Nungesser being as RINO as he is.
quote:
then wouldn't Nungesser resume the 4th Floor rather than a special election?
Precisisley why I hope JBE stays put.
Fat Pinky Billy Nungesser is the most JBE friendly RINO in the state and basically JBE with an R next to his name.
He refused to show up for the Trump rallies supporting Rispone and Abraham. That says it all about him.

Louisiana is exactly in the mold for a Stacey Abrams style operation.
Louisiana does not have a big enough urban center for that to work.
JBE barely squeaked by with two points against a terrible candidate in Rispone even with JBE winning Orleans parish by more than Obama won it in 2008.
That's not happening again with a non-incumbent candidate and a GOP candidate that's running a competent campaign.

They are.
And the dam is still breaking anyway.
The state democrat party has almost no white democrats left in the statehouse. White democrats are a minority within a minority.
In the state senate, Black Democrats outnumber white Democrats 10 to 2, and in the House it’s 35 to 7.
Furthermore, in all of the statewide races since JBE's victory in 2015, all of the democrats running have been black. Derrick Edwards, Gwen Greenup, Adrian Perkins, Ike Jackson.
And if I remember correctly, the Congressional races outside of the 2nd had black democrats leading as well against republicans.
It would be a miracle if the democrat candidate for Governor in 2023 is white.

You know, those old white voters who still think corrupt public "servants" like Edward Edwards, Huey Long and Leander Perez were great leaders for Louisiana.
Right.
Those are the people that I loathe and detest. Those are the same people that swore up and down that JBE was "not so bad" and is a conservative blue dog despite reality telling us his voting record in the statehouse was about as leftist as it gets.

Also, Nungesser or Jeff Landry are shitty candidates as well. Both will probably lose to a carefully groomed democrat.
Who will be the next democrat?

He/she would still be a rino controlled by corporations like Marsha Blackburn. When nut-cuttin time comes you will be a domestic terrorist.

Nola is gone for whites.
Destroya would have to be caught on tape diddling kids for the race to just be competitive enough for Leger to have a chance.

You might be able to add Jack Montoucet to that list.
Former State Rep. and current head of Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries. He fits the JBE mold of a rural, more socially conservative Democrat (pro-2nd amendment, pro-life platform to run with). Military background like Edwards, and he was overall liked in the Acadia & Lafayette Parish region. He would theoretically pull some of those Romeny/Trump Presidential election votes his way in a General Election.
Question is would he want to run for Governor, and can he make it out of a crowded primary field with more liberal Democrats like Leger or Cedric Richmond, both whom could carry that NOLA Democrat base.

quote:let’s also remember that it takes a unique democrat to win in Louisiana. 97% of them nationwide couldn’t win here, but JBE was one of the 3% who could and he needed luck and a shitty Republican
Both will probably lose to a carefully groomed democrat.

The thing with Louisiana selecting a democrat governor while being red is the biggest difference is there usually isn't a large difference between them. Outside of taxes very little difference but one thing still remains, the GOP is still too spinelessly and weak to make any real last changes. Its a status quo minus taxes political environment.

Wonder if John Alario is considering switching back to Democrat for one final campaign.

Latoya is setting herself up nicely for a run.
