Medal of Valor?
We have lots of medals for valor.
Sorry for the late reply, having to deal with the lumpers here.
There used to be quite a bit of info about him on Wikipedia, I am looking for it now.
I don't remember much about all the different medals,I have been out of service for almost 35 years.

Did you meet him in passing or did you get to talk to him at length? I'm sure he has some great stories.
Actually met him at a McDonald's in Newnan,GA.,and wanted to shake his hand and say thanx.
Ended up talking to him about it for about 2 hours in the parking lot.
His wife just stood there and waited.
I have his business card.
Excuse my mistake,it's Charles W.

Slabinski also left Chapman for dead...Video evidence shows he kept fighting after they left him.

Hasn't happened yet. I think it's been approved but it hasn't been awarded. Now the SEALs are saying he shouldn't get the MoH bc when they left he was already dead.
But there are other reports that Chapman was still alive when the SEALs left him and ended up fighting by himself until he was killed.

I have mixed feelings on this. I have no doubt this dude is brave as hell and has taken way more risks than I have. But it is important to remember that these guys were trying to insert into their OP, which is a no-no. The dudes who hauled arse to save them in the helo that got shot down were there to save the SEALs.
And there is strong evidence that Chapman survived and the SEALs have without a doubt attempted to quash that story because it makes them look bad.
I flew helicopters for the Army, including a number of missions in support of the SEALs. I respect what they do but I do believe that their propaganda machine gets out of hand sometimes.

Were you with the 160th? I became buddies with several of them on my last deployment. Played poker with the 47d crews.

Hey, have you see the new Bell 280 Valor? I get my first look at it next Tuesday.

I'm still waiting on John Chapman to get his too. The seals are actively fighting against it.
Amen! AF CCTs and PJs are the quiet professionals that kick some serious arse but don't get the publicity the SEALs get because they don't have a catchy names.
John Chapman absolutely deserved the MOH.

I was not. Regular Army provides a lot of the support to everybody. 160th doesn't have the assets to go around.

This is the crux of the problem. The SEALs would rather not acknowledge Chapman was still alive and a MOH for actions AFTER they left him would basically be the government saying they did so. In their defense I have no doubt that they BELIEVED he was dead when they left.
For the Air Force this feels like a kick in the nuts. Combat Controllers and JTACs often feel like the unsung heroes and this seems like somebody getting an award for leaving one of theirs on the battlefield.
The unfortunate piece is that I don't think anyone, including the SEALs, thought that Chapman was alive when they left him behind. They were trying to do their best and did exhibit real courage. But image is everything for the services.
Anyone who has been involved in putting people in for awards knows there are political considerations.

That looks badass. VTOL doesn't really replace rotary but each can do things better than the other. I was a gun pilot so when we get replaced it will probably be similar to drone piloting.

You said it all perfectly. No one is really blaming them for Chapman's death, but the action and posturing from them after the discovery is what's causing all the tension.
