ROME — Premier Mario Draghi’s Cabinet on Friday formally approved previously announced participation by 250 Italian military forces and 139 land vehicles in NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in Latvia, as well as air policing by some 12 aircraft currently deployed in Romania and patrols by an intelligence-gathering aircraft and a refueling aircraft as part of NATO’s shoring up of its eastern flank allies in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Exactly what does “250 military forces“ translate to? Is that individual soldiers? What are they talking about? And has somebody told Joy Behar about this? Italy getting in the mix and it’s gonna mess up her vacation plans!

The same forces that can't even secure their country from invading illegal immigrants?

What a relief. Imagine what we would do without the Italian military? (... said no one in 200 years ...)

Italy’s luxury sector and Belgium’s diamond leaders say no to Russian sanctions

quote:

As EU leaders come together again to decide on an applicable sanctions package for Russia invading Ukraine, makers of luxury goods are worried about the impact on their own companies.

Belgium’s diamond businesses and Italy’s luxury sector were two countries who voted against Russian sanctions, citing the possibility their own nations would suffer the damage.

quote:

“Sanctions can have a significant impact on the diamond business,” said Tom Neys, spokesperson for the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), reported Gazet van Antwerpen. “It is a blow that should hurt Russia but there is a chance that we do more damage to ourselves. The Russians can easily trade their diamonds with non-EU countries.”

quote:

“It is high risk, of course, but what is worrying us is the risk of the war,” said Capasa. “We are coming out of two years of pandemic and we don’t need a war so we wish that we find another solution.”

A whole 250 troops? Damn that’s a nato power pulling it’s weight right there. 250,000 Russians invaded days ago and their ready response force is 250?

Trump was right. NATO ain’t ready.

Italy isn't sending 250 troops to bolster defenses, it's sending troops in order to establish a presence on the eastern front. Were those troops to be harmed, Italy would be obligated to respond.
