I literally hounded DCFS until they removed one of my students from his home. Dad is a heroin addict and hasn't had electricity in over a month. Dad, son and deceased mom are all hiv+. When DCFS finally removed the kid, dad started threatening suicide if they took him and asked them to call me (he's been dropping the kid off at my house while he gets high for months). He's been staying us for about a week. Had court this morning. Family in Florida came to get the kid and dad entered rehab.

Why get so personal about it? I have done plenty to help many kids that I have crossed paths with either as former students or that were friends of my own children. However, I don’t see what any of that has to do with the context of this thread.

This is a political board. I’d bet that in real life most folks here care about children, no matter their nationality, and do what they can to help. I don’t think most feel the need to “brag” about it here, on a political message board.

They don't give a frick about these kids and everyone knows it.
