How bizarre, he hasn’t even taken the stand for his trial. Anyway you spin it, this does not bode well for Trump.

Anyone with a functioning brain would question the timing of the Southern District's interest in Mr. Parnas and his associate.

I am with you on the defense attorney thing. Don't for one minute think that the guys at SDNY are going to cut him any favors for doing this if they have the goods.
Personally I would tell my client to STFU until I have a bona fide proffer on the table that guarantees minimal or no jail time for my client and that deal signed off on by an aUSA and on the judge's desk. I don't know that Parnas has done this.
