Then look at the pace of change with the telegraph and railroad compared to just the printing press.
Then look at telephone compared to telegraph.
Now look.

Someone wrote a book on this. The cycles are 30 years between the "we generation" and the "me generation". IIRC, we're currently coming to the end of a "me" cycle that will end around 2023 according to the book.
