And I agree with that sentiment
But in this very thread, there are people that say don’t send any money to other countries & don’t allow legal immigration. It appears the America first contingent aren’t clear on what America first means, which can lead to confusion. America first seems like a slippery slope into isolationism.
The question is still how much should we help other countries.

Americans are some of most generous people in the world. They give the most to charities and are always willing to help with Natural disasters or catastrophes. To me American First means fixing the problems in America before worrying about other countries' problems. Politicians and their ilk will always have different objectives to accomplish than what the American people want from out of their Government. Of course soft power is a thing. We are definitely in a cold war with China at the moment across the world, but we shouldn't neglect the American people.

America first doesn’t mean ONLY America.
It means making deals that are in our best interest, which can also benefit the other country but isn’t fricking lopsided in their favor.

Private charity hasn’t been outlawed yet. There is nothing stopping people from donating or crowdfunding to support people in other countries.
Taxpayer funded foreign aid isn’t generous to anyone except for the politicians in other countries who are pocketing that money. Ukraine and their inevitable corruption scandal that’s unfolding proves that. If anything, taxpayers should be reimbursed for all the money wasted on democracy building projects.

Three things here...
1) What constitutes America first is making sure we have all of our government mandated spending taken care of without having to resort to borrowing to do it. After that we lower taxes on earners first, then providing aid to other countries, but make no mistake about it we don't OWE them anything from our coffers.
2) No one has ever said a damned thing about legal immigration. It's the IL-legal immigration that we can't afford.
3) Edited to remark that was here (It was a non-sequitur related to an opinion of musical tastes upon which we most definitely disagree.)

It was mentioned in this thread that legal immigration should be stopped. It’s been been mentioned in other threads as well, like the H-1b threads.
