Obviously events like this always start the gun control debate though incidents like this (though terrifying and sad) are NOT anywhere close to the biggest problem related to guns. In major metro areas, people are gunning down people at an alarming rate w/o much of a peep. The bigger problem is that these weapons involved are almost always obtained ILLEGALLY!

Come on Congress. Let’s have the debate but let’s not just focus on this evil kid in Florida but let’s focus on the kid in NO who gunned down someone on the parade route after having an argument bc the facts prove there are exponentially more of the NO parade route type killer than the guy from Fl.

The crime problem in our country is directly related to well fair and other hand outs. Most criminals do not value life. They don’t value their own life much less anyone else’s.

Countries with larger welfare programs have lower crime rates, so your logic does not work.

This is actually the real culprit. The thugs among us usually grew up without a family or role models that teach them to have respect for anything, anyone, or for themselves. This is a losing proposition. Decline in faith.

When you don't have anything, you don't have anything to lose.

Countries with larger welfare programs do not have the "You Owe Me" mind sets of our "Dindo" population.

So his logic may be closer to the truth than you are hoping to admit.

While true, those countries also typically have lower populations that are far more homogenized, and the social programs essentially force assimilation.

Source: I’ve lived in Denmark for the past three summers, and have started closely following their politics after Bernie and others kept singling it out as a socialist utopia.

Could you please provide the list of countries so I can do some research instead of just taking your word for it? Thanks.
