That is only a slight oversimplification. Think about that.

Perfect example. People hundreds of years ago did. How many plows do you see lying around for humans to learn how to use during the apocalypse? The tech is dead and it will take time for us to get to the point before that tech existed when we build society back.

Plus, where would I get quality milled wood? See many pre-Industrial wood mills around lately? Have the blueprints handy?

A lot of mind readers and people who seem to be fetishizing a collapsed society where they get to shoot people (including innocent children)

Want to, meh.

Could I, absolutely. I'm damn sure not scared of it.

That's a great point. The Romans built sewer systems and 1000 years later Europeans were shitting into buckets.

I'm not sure the Middle East has ever recovered from the fall of Alexandria.

Collapse would be so much worse this time around as our current lifestyle depends on others for its comfort. The electric grid hiccups for more than a week and all hell breaks loose. I am fortunate to already have an off grid location setup but the vast majority do not.

I get it. They envision themselves reverting to more genteel times and become a self-sustaining subsistence living. It's pretty comical. Or worse some kind of one-man army protecting their home for invaders.

That never happened in a place like Argentina (nor bosina, nor Venezuela), it sure as hell ain't happening here. The book dispels those fantasies very quickly.

To get the lights on? weeks or a month.

Monetary System? people with physical gold and silver will be in the catbirds seat. Once the grid comes back up Crypto will fill the void.

With no regulation to adhere to, economic recovery speed will be blazing.

Isn't any kind of guarantee. When no one has any power, or food, guess where they are all going. The odds of you defending yourself against 20-100 people is... slim. Some the cruelest horrors in Argentina happened to people in the rural areas. There were no neighbors to help them.

Anyone who isn't scared of this... is a fool.

In a EOTWAWKI scenario, I'm not taking gold. I want food and clean water.

I think it's much more the latter.

I blame Hank Jr.

Just remember. The same people envisioning the paths you laid out also love the "we are being hunted" meme. A lot of these guys also live in states in the Southeast or TX (areas with high violent crime during the civilized times). Somehow they're able to reconcile their current view of violent criminals and, yet, imagine the apocalypse to be fun or ideal.

Once again, dramatize much? We wont go back to plowing with horses. We definitely will drag those old open cab tractors that are completely devoid of electronics and put them back to work.

We will never go back to the days without electricity. It wont be as cheap, or as available as it is today, but it wont go completely away.

We have our own hydro and biomass facilities, tons of fish and game.

After the initial die out, would be fine. There are no roads in, so no influx of people.

I could survive infinitely alone on one of the islands here.

Meh. I'm not a fan of mind-reading them any more than them mind-reading you. That's a pretty broad generalization.
